Also, way to dodge the question. I didnt expect you to answer it because that would have taken some conviction. Be honest in your arguments.

George II

PTWB
(4,131 posts)It is a simple question with what should be a simple answer.
I'll answer just to show you how easy it is. If Trump switched his party and was a registered Democrat, I would not support him.
Can you say the same?
George II
(67,782 posts)PTWB
(4,131 posts)See how that works?
George II
(67,782 posts)....your question(s).
PTWB
(4,131 posts)I could answer it. I wonder why you couldn't?
If Trump switched parties and became a registered Democrat, would you support him?
I would not.
See how simple that is? It begs the question why you are unwilling to answer that.
It also goes to my point that you choose to throw your support behind a current right winger who has switched her party to compete in a Democratic primary, instead of an established Democratic candidate.
Do you choose to support a right winger over AOC because she's a woman, a woman of color, or is she too progressive for you?

MCC is getting contributions from people who work on Wall Street, they're limited to the FEC annual maximums like everyone else.
Those people could include file clerks, maintenance people, cafeteria workers, IT people, etc.
Getting back to the subject line of the OP, Wall Street is a 7-block strip of paving in lower Manhattan.
Trumpocalypse
(6,143 posts)file clerks, maintenance people, cafeteria workers, IT people? What it does say is that she has raised more than $2m in funding from a variety of bankers, lawyers, investors, and executives. And that she use to be a registered Republican.

Because it's the DEMOCRATS the greedy ones fear above everything else. For all the right reasons.

You have to marvel at the amount of solid info she and her staff bring to the table.
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)Porter developed some renown regarding consumer and banking law before entering congress, and the RW financial sector had good reason for not being pleased when Elizabeth Warren and Kamala Harris helped recruit her for congress.
But some others on this thread need to realize that neither Ocasio nor Porter is feared in the least by far more powerful people. Those do fear the very scary Democratic Party committed to reform -- but only for real when we may actually get the power needed for reform.
Ocasio and Porter are given assignments by their committee and subcommittee leaders, important assignments to Porter commensurate with her special abilities, sure, but still team assignments. And the leaders discuss and plan with the members the lines they should pursue those rare times a committee is in front of the cameras. Members aren't loose cannons allowed to go off on their own instead of as part of a coordinated strategy, and certainly not freshmen.
Teamwork -- the whole much more powerful than its parts.
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)I'm guessing that very few of even liberal business leaders like or respect her since she smears them with the worst of the conservatives, not bothering to differentiate between them, but that's very different.
The donations are comparatively small -- the big money's in Ocasio's kitty and that of whatever Republican the conservatives are donating to. Ocasio-Cortez had $2.5 million versus her opponent's $1 million at last report.

You are grossly misinformed. Do better.
R B Garr
(16,975 posts)Why punish her constituents for the inept Trump administration. Just approve the funds so anyone can get the funds they need. It's not a time for purity. Oversight is quite a joke to the people in office, obviously. It's pretty bad when you join four Republicans to vote no.
And it's not a "slush fund". It's called the Coronavirus Relief Fund. That's the name. They are not totally separate.

(11,607 posts)And for the record, she voted for the bill with the $1,200 stimulus. It was the replenishment of the PPP, which lacked many of the reforms she and other Democrats pushed for and lacked funding for state and local governments, that she voted against.
R B Garr
(16,975 posts)"Replenishment" -- yes. We all heard what she had to say about it. I don't live in New York, so I guess there are no hospitals or corporations that employ people. It only gets complicated if everything has to be viewed by what one lone politician votes on and obviously the other Democrats disagreed. I'll stick with them.

(68,667 posts)wall Street will back her. I don't care for Caruso and if I lived in AOC's district, i would vote for her, but Caruso could win the primary..don't kid yourself. It must be fairly close or AOC would not be debating...those winning rarely do.
democrattotheend
(11,607 posts)I think AOC gave Joe Crowley a hard time about not debating her initially, so she'd look hypocritical if she refused to debate her opponents. Especially since there were more than one, so otherwise they would have had the debate without her, which would have made her look really bad.
They fear Senator Elizabeth Warren who doesn't just talk the talk...she walks the walk.
