it was only one section that was tossed, and that was because of old data.

The ruling let an out for Congress easily address the problem, but congress has refused to act. The current Senate likes things the way they are. Current problems in states like Georgia were addressed, and could easily be again.

That would only give the Republican run states an additional excuse to further restrict voting by having even fewer voting places/machines so that people have to wait in longer lines than before. ("After all, it's a National Holiday, right? Who needs to go to work that day?&quot Plus, it ignores the fact that a surprising number of people do not work jobs where they actually get holidays off. Think about how in recent years too many retail places have decided "Who needs to have all of Thanksgiving Day off?" and open on that day.

Everyone needs to work retail at some point.

Instead, mandate good early voting and mail-in ballots readily available. There are already states that do only mail-in ballots and they are hardly noted for hinky results.

The idea for making election day a national holiday has been around for a long time. But now with early voting and voting by mail, its benefits are much diminished and when coupled with the problems you state, forget about it.

of how many people out there don't get holidays off. Unfortunately, too many people who have regular office jobs haven't a clue. They go happily shopping or to a restaurant or theme park and don't think about the hours or days those people work.

As a side note, every so often I'll read something which says EVERYONE should go to bed early and be up by 5am because that way you will absolutely be more productive. Which is truly dumb, because if that were the case, there'd be no one to take you to the ER, let alone fix you up, after 9pm at night. We all need to be grateful that we are a various enough species that some of us can get up at 5am and be productive, others are able to work an overnight shift.
