My neighbors had a party Saturday.

Also on Saturday, my relatives had a big family reunion.

On Sunday, my neighbors on the other side had a party, too. So did a family down the block. It was, after all, Fathers Day.

On Facebook, the Washington County, PA group is filled with people bragging about how they never wear masks and don’t have to.

The next county over, Allegheny County, PA just had a spike in covid cases.

Parking lots at businesses are full again. Local advertising has a “Now that this is over” theme.

A man in a passing pickup truck yelled “Face masks don’t do shit!” at me as I was crossing the street in Canonsburg while wearing a face mask.

A woman at a grocery store that enforces mask use, took off her mask and breezed by me after I told her to cover her nose. “See, no mask!”

We are all so screwed.

At hair place (not salon-type,) one employee told another about a customer who had been in earlier and discussed mask use; employee told him she (and he) had to wear masks because governor said so. Customer said 'but what if I sneeze,' and was told it HELPs!

Little Wershington, correct pronunciation, my hometown. Ah yes, Sarris Chocolates. Used to be steel mills, glass factories and mines -- all union jobs that paid middle-class wages. I think the fracking that came to the area (that did not hire locals but imported workers from far away) convinced everyone nothing mattered but quick money. That made repubs of too many. Have an August reunion scheduled, but not likely to be safe to attend. The maskless wackos jeopardize that.

I went shopping today and it seemed a little more relaxed than the last few times. I went to the clinic earlier and they were still being strict with masks. Gave me a new one when I entered. A little better quality than before. There were more people this time but had most of the seats closed so you didn’t sit next to each other. Not really trump country around here though I did see an older woman who had a MAGA cap she did have a mask. Well I guess they were enforcing it there so doesn’t really say anything but when I noticed her hat all I could think is fhsf she’s no doubt suffered under trump. I had to think the ones that support him want to go back in time though I’m sure most of them aren’t doing as well as they were 4 years ago. But at least there weren’t so many brown people back in the good old days.

has been steadily disappearing. I blame it on republicans with their "in your face" attitude about politics, and a steady decrease in education. It then spread to every aspect of life. The inconsiderate, uneducated masses then got together and elected Donald Trump as their "king". Unfortunately the entire country is subjected to their "king", and that's why we are, where we are, today. It's going to be a long, tough haul bringing common decency and education back to the forefront in our country. But the longest journey starts with a single step, so here we go.

I grew up in Washington County - a fair piece in guntown before moving to the country a few miles out of Claysville.

As others have said, it was blue until Reagan started to poison the hearts of the people there in the 80s - Racist as fuck, but Blue.

Now I'm in corn country rural Illinois. There is a sizable minority of folks here that won't follow the guidelines -

Evidently it's because Pritzker is rich and from Chicago - so they can't do anything he says.

It is literally that stupid - it is a second grade level mindless reaction. It's insane.

Illinois has done the best job fighting this pandemic of any state, but it doesn't matter. If JB is for it, they are opposed

When the barking Orange Walrus shit on grain farmers in a losing dick measuring contest with China - Pritzker negotiated a soybean purchase agreement with Taiwan that allowed Illinois farmers to sell their produce at a more profitable rate.

It was a move that SAVED FAMILY FARMS state wide.

When I brought that up recently I was told "You know JB was getting kickbacks on that", well no asshole I don't know that, where is the proof that ever happened?

To me, if you are aware of people giving you "dirty looks", you are already paying to much attention to them. And probably 1/2 of "dirty looks" are imagined. People tend to look/glance at each other, during the most normal of times.

I've never had anyone say anything to me, and I would ignore them if they did.

I will have to admit, that even without a mask, if you are reasonably careful, your changes of infection are low (especially if in an area with a low infection rate). But the way I look at it, I have been wearing a seatbelt for decades, and it has never helped me once, but I'm going to keep doing it.

I went in for an echocardiogram today.

It's a small office ... just two cardiologists.

Three of the five people I interacted with had NO masks on. I am sorry to say that I was pretty darn ticked off. Our county, Maricopa County (Phoenix Metro) has a mask ordinance in place (finally).

I asked why they weren't wearing masks. The receptionist said, "Oh, these other staffers don't have direct patient contact." I guess sitting 6-7 feet away from the receptionist window doesn't count, huh?

Flabbergasted? Oh, yeah! I will NEVER go there again. I also let my primary care physician know (he referred me to this cardiology office).
