Hotez: Houston needs COVID action now. 'The nightmare scenario is unfolding.'

Vaccine researcher Dr. Peter Hotez, one of the country’s top experts on infectious disease, called Wednesday for immediate action to contain COVID-19 in Houston, Dallas, Austin and San Antonio.

“I want to see a plan in place before the weekend,” he said.

The “crunch time,” he said, is “the next couple of days. We’ve already let this thing go too long. Now the nightmare scenario is unfolding.”

Assuming that COVID-19’s mortality rate is 1 percent, Hotez calculates, “you’re looking at nearly 30,000 deaths in Harris County. We can’t tolerate that.”

When Patrick gets on Fox and starts his constant whining about how we should throw granny under the bus it put pressure on Abbott, who blows with the political wind. I got the distinct impression Patrick may have been angling for a primary challenge in '22.

Now Abbott is under way more pressure about an out of control spread caused by opening back up too fast, city mayors and county judges were about to revolt. The number of deaths had been going down slightly but that's about to change as hospitals start reaching capacity.

to flatten and bring down the curve on covid infections. Apparently all the bubba governors in the south and west weren't listening. They were instead following and eating up trump's insanity.
