(10,202 posts)Brings back memories of a nicer, more hopeful summer. Worrying about going out in the ocean was probably one of my biggest fears back then. A boogie man vs crumbling society today.

(37,160 posts)I didn't see any of the stars, and being a kid at the time I wouldn't have recognized any of them, except maybe Roy Scheider.
I did see Edgartown dressed up with all the "Amity" signage, and the Orca in the harbor with workmen hammering away on its stern, probably prep work for shooting the big finale.
I did remember seeing a damaged picket fence, and for decades I thought it was from the scene they cut for time showing the damage the karate school kids did "karate-ing the picket fences." Then probably 5 years ago because that was the 40th anniversary, a big book came out with all sorts of production pictures, including one from the deleted scene.
Except it wasn't the fence I saw back in '74(?). That, apparently, had been an ordinary damaged fence, as if someone had backed something into it. I had a big laugh out of that.

(6,880 posts)women's experience tends to be more like "Don't worry, it's all in your head."
Nothing more frustrating than suffereng and being turned away because they can't find anything wrong.
