To all the GOPers who say they can't vote for this time around?

I have a few serious questions? Why could you vote for him in 2016? What changed your mind? What did you think he was going to, make you richer?

Don’t get me wrong here, but you should have know this was going to happen when you put a pathetic moron in office! Think about it, it is your fault that Trump is in way over his head! Period, I blame you for not stopping him and not standing up to him! In the end, he has almost destroyed this country!

3. That's very true! They can't use Hillary hate as an excuse this time.

My sibling voted “ her pocketbook “, saying she only voted for the Dum Dum because she thought he would lower her taxes, which didn’t happen. I have heard this “ I vote my wallet” excuse before.... usually stated proudly ....

I voted for Hillary.

But here’s what I heard from Republicans:

They buy into the Washington “swamp” narrative. They wanted to drain the swamp. Many of them buy into the “deep state” narrative. They thought that Trump would weaken, if not destroy, the “deep state.” He woul tell them, “You’re fired!” Most of them have been getting poorer for years on end, and Trump promised to fight their favorite scapegoat—the one they can most easily blame for their enduring poverty—immigrants. They have been trained by right-wing media to “hate” liberals and Democrats. Trump, they felt, was the most aggressive and vicious of their candidates. Trump, they felt, could “own” the libs. They also value efficiency, and they hoped that Trump’s background in business would help make the Federal Government more efficient.

For the most part, that’s what I think that they were thinking.

6. The fact that Trump has failed spectacularly in every business venture he's ever tried

didn't ring any bells with them? Especially going broke running a casino? A casino is basically a legal license to print money, and he went bankrupt.

The only thing Trump ever did efficiently was clear out the pockets of his investors. Doing that on a national level with the national treasury is a recipe for disaster.

7. Many of them were not aware of how bad a businessman he was.

If nothing else, he’s a con man. He convinced a lot of people, including Deutsch Bank, that he had a Midas touch and that his name was gold. The only thing he ever did successfully was star on “The Apprentice.” Many of them liked that show and liked the tough-business-leader persona that he cultivated on it.

4. In all fairness (I know, I know...Republicans don't deserve fairness), no one could have predicted

the absolute and utter devastation Trump has created in just three and a half years. They probably viewed him as just another harmless boob who would allow them get away with their usual corporate predation without doing too much harm. Little did they realize he'd actually burn the whole thing down.

5. The lack of character, the lack of ethics, the failed businesses, and the list goes on,

all of this was out there for all of us to see. I had heard of Trump before he announced his candidacy, but only that he was some rich NY asshole. But when he announced, I looked into him & discovered that he got his start in life from wealthy parents, that he wasn't a successful businessman, that Trump org used undocumented labor & didn't pay their bills. If I could find this out, they could have too. Anyone who wanted to vote on facts and not emotion and misogyny, would have looked into Donald J. Trump and seen what a conman he is. I'm furious with everyone who voted for him.

8. They found out that voting to "own the libs"

also negatively impacts them. This is a rude awakening to those who have realized that they are not special and exempt from republican policies.

My question is, will this be remembered not only on election day, but future elections?

Make no mistake what trump is doing has been endorsed and promoted by the republican party for decades. He's just not wrapping it up in a pretty package for them. He laid down the dog whistle and picked up the bullhorn.

10. There was ample evidence that a Trump administration would be bad news
Thu Jun 25, 2020, 11:30 AM
Jun 2020

There was info that he was was a bad businessman, that his business methods were suspect, and that he couldn’t or wouldn’t follow through on agreements.

There was evidence that he was frequently untruthful and that he liked to ignore unpleasant facts. There was also good reason to believe that his religious conversion was bogus.

None of those reasons gave me reason to believe that he’d make a good or even a middling President. Having grown up believing that there was a plurality of rational, thinking people in the Republican Party, I believed that they would see through Donnie’s charade and do right by the Republic and stay home in the general election in 2016. (Well, so much for THAT misconception!)

Not so long ago, Republicans liked to brag about their hard-headed realism and their ability to solve problems.

Their nominating Trump and then voting for him in the general election show that such claims are sh*t.
