The Korean War----North Korea invades South Korea on June 25, 1950 (70yrs ago!)

My dad always had the radio news on during supper.*

I well remember when it was reported that the Security
Council of the UN voted to begin action to drive No Korea out.

This was only possible because the Soviet Union had some time earlier walked out of the Council. They were one of the 5 permanent members. It was said they vowed NEVER to walk out again. And they haven't!

* The family story is that listening to the nightly news during supper in the 50s led to my brother's ulcer. He was born in 42
