Scottsdale councilman apologizes for 'I can't breathe' comment at anti-mask rally

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Scottsdale City Councilman Guy Phillips is doing damage control after he says comments he made at an anti-mask rally he was leading were taken out of context.

"I can't breathe! I can't breathe!" Phillips said at the start of his remarks before pulling off a black face mask and speaking, to a crowd of a few hundred anti-mask supporters outside Scottsdale City Council Wednesday morning.

That's a rhetorical question, of course; these brainwashed sheep are protesting because Trump doesn't like masks and therefore they shouldn't either. That's the only reason they need.

I have been amusing myself in a dark, cynical way when reading these accounts of weapons-grade idiocy, by substituting the word "pants" whenever I see "masks." So:

Scottsdale City Councilman Guy Phillips is doing damage control after he says comments he made at an anti-pants rally he was leading were taken out of context.

"I can't breathe! I can't breathe!" Phillips said at the start of his remarks before pulling off his black pants and speaking to a crowd of a few hundred anti-pants supporters outside Scottsdale City Council Wednesday morning...
Phillips said he felt awful about the situation and that his intent was to show how restrictive he felt pants were.

That is, anyone wearing a mask must be a Democrat.........

They want individual freedom to not wear a mask and to get sick and die from COVID-19.......

The anti-mask stance will help him with one portion of the voters.
The bigoted stance will help with another.

I can tell you this much: I won't vote for him.

I wish I was so I could help vote him out.

Our new AZ Covid numbers are out this morning. We're up to 10.9% positive on testing.

Guy is currently a member of the Better Business Bureau, the Heritage Foundation, the National Rifle Association and along with being a city council member.....

Nowhere in his web pages do I see where he declares a party affiliation but I assume he's a Rethug.

But, yeah, they are ALL Rethugs in Scottsdale.

There is one, lone Dem on the City Council, currently. She is not currently up for re-election.
ALL the current candidates that are running currently (incumbents or not) are Rethugs.

Even AZ rethug gov Doug Ducey condemned Phillips' remarks.

"Just flat out wrong. Despicable doesn’t go far enough. The final words of George Floyd should NEVER be invoked like this. Anyone who mocks the murder of a fellow human has no place in public office. Period," Ducey tweeted.
