Amazon workers in Minnesota want government to temporarily shut warehouse down

An Amazon.com Inc. warehouse in Shakopee, Minnesota, is once again at the center of controversy as workers there ask Gov. Tim Walz step in to temporarily close the facility.

The 860,000-square-foot warehouse, which employs 1,000 people, has seen 89 cases of Covid-19 since the pandemic began earlier this year, according to the Minnesota Department of Health.

Workers at the MSP1 fulfillment facility in Shakopee demanded Wednesday that Seattle-based Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) close the facility for two weeks so that the company can clean the facility.

Amazon, however, argued that the spread of the disease has more do to with the communities outside the facilities than inside them.
