I've worked the decennial years ago, and other ongoing surveys. There is a significant number of people who either can't be bothered or genuinely believe none of this is the government's business. And there's always a few who see it as a game and give phony answers.

If you knock on a door and someone answers, I believe you will get more accurate answers than if someone just clicks a website. Note, I have no proof of this, just observations over years of dealing with people. Besides, we have always had small armies of canvassers out looking for living quarters, but I haven't heard how that affects non-personal interviews. And there are always language problems.

We have some excellent statisticians who try to account for all this and get accurate counts, but while sampling may reduce some errors, it can produce others.

We are also prohibited from answering any questions from the IRS, FBI, Homeland Security or any other agency.

Not as long as you, but it all counts the same.

A large percentage of people hadn't completed it yet, just a few weeks ago.

The question about a specific ethnicity -- "English" or whatever -- seemed unusual!

I suppose that I could've left it blank? (The box under the main "race" categories.) I filled it out anyway, since I previously forked over money to verify that stuff with DNA testing.

When’s it due. I am getting taxes done the 1st of July. I always wait to the last minute on everything.
