I think he's a smart guy, and I think he takes his job seriously, but I am constantly baffled that people like him think that they're helping the country by remaining in their roles. Trump does not give two shits about Fauci or his ideas, he just wants him there as a figurehead to point at for PR purposes.

If Fauci really wants to save lives, the best thing he could do is quit in disgust and go get a job as Biden's coronavirus adviser.
