Conservatives Embrace Romney's 47% Remarks

Conservatives Embrace Romney's 47% Remarks
The right thrills to an alleged gaffe. “It only serves to excite the conservative base,” says Raccio.

Rosie Gray BuzzFeed Staff

Videos published by Mother Jones on Monday of Mitt Romney speaking at a closed-press fundraiser drew immediate attacks from Democrats — but they've also, finally begun to gin up enthusiasm among conservatives for the Republican nominee.

"Dammit! I'm just now seeing these Romney secret videos," RedState founder and CNN contributor Erick Erickson said on Twitter. "We need that guy on the campaign trail!"

"In the battle of caught-on-tape scandals, I'll take Romney's (accurate statement) over Obama's (promising Putin) any day," Brady Creemens, a writer for the Right Sphere, tweeted, referring to a hot mic Obama promise of post-election "flexibility."

Creemens continued, "Oh, Romney doesn't much care for those who benefit from the system without contributing? Good. Me neither. I think I'll vote for him."

Mitt Romney had already lost the election before this video leaked, now all the Republican congressional candidates will have to choose between pissing off their base and pissing off 47% of Americans along with their friends and family. I predict several Republicans will lose their Congressional races as a direct result of their response to this.

But give it a little time and let more stuff from that dinner come out and the down ticket Republicans are going to scatter like rats off a sinking ship.

REMEMBER the poll that was just posted on here today: The least favorite group in America right now is the Tea Party. Followed closely by the religious right. They scream the loudest, which is how they have tricked the GOP into thinking they are bigger than they are.

What Romney said in that video is no different than what Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity say on their show every single day, the difference is Limbaugh and Hannity are not running for President and it is generally only the far right that pays any attention to them. These people are not the type to be quiet however and now people are listening so their words will be heard by a much larger audience and that larger audience is not going to like what they hear. If the right-wing ditches Romney it won't be because he said this, it will be because they don't think he said it loudly enough and they will demand their Congressional candidate speaks out as loudly on this as they expect Romney to. This is not really that big of a disaster for Mitt, he was already going to lose so this does not change much for him. The Republican congressional candidates in tight races are the ones who are going to be really devastated by this, they will be asked if they agree with Romney and if they say no they piss off their base if they say yes they piss off everyone else.

It is but a page borrowed from Rush's collection of sermons. The sheep have been prepared for the slaughter, have they not?

Oh god, let him take this public and go all out with it. We couldn't ask for a better gift.

Romney and his aides may even be dumb enough to do it.
