He has an enormous family and they do a lot together so whether it was in his public world or private, he's probably been exposed by now.

I just found out one of my dearest friends was in quarantine, soon to end. Lives in another state but was contacted by a contact tracer and told to quarantine.

Trump has created an extremist base that will never again support a moderate
Republican.

They don't just crave a strong leader to follow but what they believe is a socially respected majority group to belong and conform to. Like their counterparts among the far left, they need to believe it's they who represent most of the good but "silent" people.

I'm not hopeless anyway.

The Republican party electorate had over a dozen moderate candidates to choose from in the 2016 primaries, and they went with a racist demagogue like Trump. The GOP is scared to death of Trump's radicalized base, moderates like Romney cannot win primaries in the current political climate. Perhaps in another four years, after Trump's base has calmed down.

under the encouragement of a succession of increasingly lawless and predatory leaders. But the Repub Party is pretty damned close to breaking itself along with the country. Genuine extremism is bad for business as well as everyone else, and what's happening may just result in a change of trajectory, or at least a falling away, leaving the worst of them an isolated extremist faction.

After all, both Trump and the Tea Party were rebellions against what they rightly saw as the Republican establishment betraying them to their very wealthy donors. They want regulations and social programs for themselves even as they idiotically support eliminating them to spite others. Trump promised them the economically progressive world and then screwed them over.

As I said, I have hope.

They're force Trump to resign, inaugurate Pence, have Pence fast track Mitt for Veep, then have Pence resign and run Mitt.

He'd win with 55% of the vote.

He's already gotten stomped. Lost by 5 million votes in a race with credibly organized 3rd party.
And 126 vote loss in the EC.
Why would you think Mitt would win in a landslide against Biden?

Mitt would not win 55% of the vote.

What are you basing that on.

Not even good speculation. More like fear mongering speculation.
