Too Little - Too Late.....

Pence wearing a mask now after disrespecting the use of masks and Moscow Mitch now advocating the use of masks - is just 'too little - too late'.

Especially Pence - who was the supposed head of the Coronovirus Task Force - should have known better and set an example. Instead he cowered behind Trump who arrogantly decided that protecting himself and others by wearing a mask - was beneath him.

Now the re-opening that is failing badly and creating Covid hot spots all around the country. So in a face saving attempt so they can say that they advocate using masks - they have decided to openly wear and promote the use of face masks to minimize Covid spread.

More Covid positive cases. More hospitalizations. Hospitals and health professionals becoming overwhelmed. And soon more deaths. All because of Trumps emphasis on re-election over safety.

Pence and Mitch and Repug Governors are realizing that they re-opened too soon despite warnings against moving too fast. They are realizing that they screwed up. Things are now in a tailspin and the virus is winning.

They have decided that they better initiate face saving actions - lest they be blamed for the rising death toll that we are to expect in the next coming weeks and months.

The sad irony is that if BMI 45 wasn’t so stupid and arrogant and acted like a leader back in January or February, we would be in a situation similar to other countries. There wouldn’t be 130,000 dead. The virus would still be a threat but most businesses would be open. Hospitals would have the PPE needed and sufficient ICU capacity. Everybody would be masked and feel like they were doing their part. Basic public health recommendations wouldn’t be divisive and up for debate. He might be cruising to a second term and praised for his leadership.

That choir scene the other day that he was needlessly responsible for should get him some jail time.

But you know...religion good, science bad! The Republican Party is largely responsible for that kind of binary thinking. It has served their duopolistic political interests so they're not inclined to give it up.

Maybe somebody will survey how many COVID victims were deeply "religious" and failed to take sensible precautions because...religion good, science bad!

Is this the Middle Ages?

How many times will they tell business to reopen and then close again until businesses tell them to go piss up a rope?

Trump the most. It completely undercuts the bullshit he's been going on about with respect to his 'Transition to Greatness' nonsense. And the fact that it's red states and red state Governors that are doing it is probably going to finally drive him over the edge.

It was one thing to constantly attack Democratic Governors because they didn't jump when he said to, but it's a different animal when he begins attacking his own - and he will.

If they can't get the case curves to flatten out soon in counties like the one below, they are in deep shit.

Cases in Bexar County, Texas as of 6/27/20:

While scanning a sampling of counties around the country a couple of days ago, the pattern was clear: red state areas that opened too abruptly or too soon all look like that curve. In addition, they are in stark contrast to most blue state counties where I see a lot of flattened curves.
