Black Mom Racially Profiled For Using A Hotel Pool Where She Was Staying..

Hilton did the right thing and fired the racist employee..

A Hampton Inn employee has been fired after calling the police on a Black family using the hotel's swimming pool in Williamston, North Carolina.

"Hampton by Hilton has zero tolerance for racism or discrimination of any kind. On Saturday, we were alerted to an online video of a guest incident at one of our franchise properties," Shruti Gandhi Buckley, the Global Head of Hampton by Hilton, said in a statement to USA TODAY Monday. "The team member is no longer employed at the hotel."

What the fuck did we do to white people? Let me see - they captured our ancestors and made them slaves.

The treatment was so abominable, vengeance seemed only right, and not only is it expected somewhere deep in the minds of many, that it has not happened yet produces an intolerable strain. Not only the strain of waiting, but of having a gnawing suspicion the people who have been so cruelly wronged show qualities of forbearance that undercut the root of their belief in their own superiority.

I'm going to assume you're aware of that problem there.

Bigotry and prejudice are everywhere. And in every culture.

People are discriminated against based on their skin color.

Of course, it doesn't make it ok. Who said it did?

It's wrong no matter who does it.

Williams-Wright claims that the hotel employee didn't ask anyone else at the pool area to prove they were hotel guests.

"It was two white people sitting over there and she said nothing to them," Williams-Wright said in the video. "She said to me, 'Oh, because it’s always people like you using the pool unauthorized.' Who is people like me?"

After Williams-Wright refused to provide identification, saying she wasn't required to because she "didn't commit a crime," the officers proceeded to run her license plate from her car parked outside of the hotel's pool area.

"Once I prove that I have a room, that was for you to walk away," Williams-Wright said to one of the officers. "I didn’t commit a crime. You are degrading me like this in front of my kids. They are trying to enjoy themselves in the pool."

I want to see black people be able to BE HAPPY!! Be at PEACE in our world! That isn't what they are getting!! They are getting the OPPOSITE!

Even our constitution gives people the right to PURSUE HAPPINESS, and that right is NOT being provided to our black brothers and sisters!!! I'm fucking sick of this!!

Racists are like a fucking swarm of deadly mosquitoes; not just irritating as hell, and seeming to be everywhere, the noise is deafening and the bite is deadly.

Edited because what I posted previously sounded like a threat of violence. Sorry Agent Mike.

Cops should have left right away, rather than take that beat-down.

I think she showed those children how to stand up for their rights.

It’s sad she had to show her kids how to stand up to racism. That little boy had his day ruined and looked like he wanted to cry. He will carry this day with him his whole life.

At 7:12 in that infuriating video the employee comes back and says that her boss says she has to provide her name and room number and was asking the general manager was coming over.

Regardless of nothing else, when your hotel calls the police on a guest or anyone else in the hotel the manager and general manager should damn well have gotten off their asses and seen for themselves what was going on.

Unless Hilton hotels call the police on their guests so regularly that it is an everyday ho-hum event.

The statement by Hilton is crap as well.

I can't cut and paste from the tweet (I hate twitter...), but it says "Even as we communicated our expectation to the ownership and management of the ....., we learned the team member is no longer employed."

So first they are shifting the blame from corporate to the owner of the particular hotel. Then they offer the excuse that basically "well problem solved, that team member is no longer employed". They'll get back to the owner about follow up actions.

  1. Blatantly missing in the first paragraph is an apology. Instead basically "we're not racist" and "we did the right thing"

  2. In the first few words they point at the owner of the particular hotel. It's not corporate. Don't look here.

  3. Next the employee is no long employed. See the problem is solved

  4. Standard pap bullshit about unspecified and unscheduled follow up actions between corporate and the hotel owner

  5. Closes with "pump up the brand"

This read like standard bullshit to shield the corporation and brand from legal and political action.

They should have apologized, bought some time and said they will issue a complete statement with precise follow up actions within 24 or 48 hours.

I don't know what they can do immediately with the franchise owner, but the fact that the manager wasn't immediately fired for not personally taking charge of the situation when the police were involved tells me that there is a real problem at that hotel and it these type things are tolerated by corporate.

Note: first attempt at ordered list tags at du. Didn't realize they were available...
