(13,041 posts)screw the MAGA mantra. It's not great when they're jobless and hungry. Then again, this is what happens when you put an unfit, narcissistic, embicilic conman in office. Hopefully he'll be a con(VICTED)man once he's kicked out of office this november.

(37,160 posts)...allegedly to keep famine relief workers secure from insurgents, but that had been true months earlier and he hadn't seen any pressing need.
But, with Bill Clinton coming in with talk of a "peace dividend"... good luck trying to cut the military budget when there are troops in harm's way.
And any problems would fall in the new guy's lap, as they did.

(5,470 posts)NO poll goes from 55% to 19% overnight.
Sweet Koresh I hope its true, but color me skeptical....
whopis01
(3,514 posts)So not really overnight.
I would still agree that is a huge (almost too big to believe) shift in the polls. But the past couple months have been unlike any other time period in my lifetime.
So I would say there is probably some overshoot in reaction - but it is likely pretty representative of reality.

(46,051 posts)I thought they meant a 19% drop, not 19% approval. Finally, this number is approaching the level where approval of Trump should be.

(16,927 posts)it has another 19 points to fall to where it SHOULD be......

(36,745 posts)The Progressive Conservatives had a majority in Parliament. In the 1993 election, they went from that majority to just 2 seats. It took about 14 years for them to get back in power.
Long story short...an electoral tsunami is coming in November. We are going to see a LOT of Trumplicans bite the dust. This country is ready to make a significant shift leftward.
MyOwnPeace
(16,927 posts)It does seem to be shaping up that way - but we know that the "in-office" person has tools at his disposal (yeah, and "this" one has even more because of his buddy Vlad) - I'll feel SO much better when he's watching Joe declare victory after NBC, CBS, ABC, NPR, AP, UPI, and even FUAX SPEWS declares Joe Biden as the President-Elect (we're not gonna' wait for a concession announcement - BunkerBoy will be too busy packing his bags to take the next flight to Moscow).

(17,920 posts)God willing and the creeks don't rise, knock on wood.
I feel it. All indicators support it. And the indicators are blinking way more than they did in '80 when Reagan swept Carter, the '94 Rethuglican landslide, or the 2010 tea party revolution. Nice to have a tsunami to the left after 40 years of hell.

(15,805 posts)It wasn't like this was accumulative index of Trump's Top 40 Hits, this shows here was one single, earthshaking event to produce such a sharp drop off.
What was the tipping point?

(17,920 posts)shows a > 20 percentage point shift from 2016.
Guess that's what happens during a pandemic when one party considers older people....their base no less...as expendable. The idiots f'd themselves with their core demographic.

(24 posts)Not so fast my friends! I would like to think this is a good thing, but let us not forget the majority of republicans are low IQ, "law and order" racists. This poll may simply indicate they are frustrated by the apparent progressive direction the country is taking. Question 2: Why do they think US is moving in wrong direction. If Traitor Trumps approval rating drops below 35%, you will have your answer.

(90,704 posts)...are working, there are significant states where TPTB are closing 95% of polling stations and going to court to forbid universal vote by mail.
It is still fantastic news. I believe The Lincoln Project is having an effect yes, even the dumbest among us can see unemployment and death when it slaps them in the face, but the fine folks over at TLP are focusing on the root cause (i.e. Trump) like a laser.

(9,090 posts)too bad it couldn't have happened before covid.
the republican/trump top expert on COVID is the same guy who told millions smoking doesn't cause cancer for years and wanted to stop any anti smoking regs and education, and who's now likely dying from cancer.
hopefully before he dies he'll get the credit he deserves for the death and destruction caused by covid and global warming denial

(58,785 posts)of traditions begun in the 19th century when southerners and western settlers swarmed into and became the majority of the great liberal party of Jefferson and Madison. They vote for local conservatives who may run as blue dog Dems (27 out of 235 in our current house caucus), but in statewide and national elections they vote Republican.
