Possible Nurses Strike In Counties Without Mandatory Masks In Texas

My friend's sister is a nurse in Texas. She said they may strike for one day or more in counties where masks are not required indoors. Not sure if it is going to happen.

Could get ugly.

especially when there are simple measures that could be taken to minimize that risk.

County officials need to know their actions--or lack thereof--have consequences.

I feel bad for any patient who might suffer in the short term because of this action, but if this is the only way to impress upon their "leaders" the urgency of the crisis, then so be it.

Hopefully though it won't come to this.

..which is happening in our state and neighboring states. The Sheriff in our County says it 'not his job;...in fact there is a Nursery business North of Seattle that forbids his employees to wear a mask!

The politicians in many places are dumb as rocks and so are 33% or more of the people. Would you want to go to work every day and face C-19 up close all day and worry about taking it home to family? Medical staff refusing to show up to work are subject to losing their license, so a few are at risk if they go it alone. If its a widespread movement the pols will be at a severe disadvantage.

4. They have every right. They can also refuse to work there and move.

The white male establishment sees nurses and teachers as indentured servants.

I hope they do.

I live in Texas. Near me, San Antonio is in big trouble but the least of the major cities, since masks ARE mandated. One of the nearby small towns is mandating masks now, which is no surprise since one of the best rural hospitals (and correspondingly a better grade if doctors) is there. The bedroom community between us and San Antonio will not mandate them. The grocery store just put it’s foot down to bar anyone without a man, and you should see the conservaturds week and wail and gnash their teeth about freedumb. (Coincidentally, this is the town whose Facebook community pages are now constantly filled with freak outs about this or that business suddenly being closed. IT’S CALLED SOMEONE WITH COVID-19 WAS IN THERE AND POSSIBLY/DEFINITELY INFECTED PEOPLE, YOU MORONS!)

So while it could get really bad, I don’t care one bit if nurses go on strike. Someone has to kick these people in the ass. All they care about is planning for band camp in 2 weeks (sorry, Karen, I can tell you right now it’ll be cancelled), the freedumb celebration this Saturday (cancelled), sharing their goddamned municipal lake/park/beach with anyone from outside city limits (i.e., don’t let any brown people in here while we have massive congregations to BBQ without masks), etc.
