I also think she may have had more than 1 surgery. 1st one didn't go quite right but she could still sing, just not quite as clear or high as she used to. 2nd one ended up worse I think.

I have a DVD on Victor/Victoria and damn she had a great voice back then. Later I got a DVD recording of the Broadway stage production with her and Michael Nouri (playing the James Garner role). She didn't sing nearly as much...one of the chorus boys sang most of Le Jazz Hot. So she wasn't in fine voice any longer and had to temper due to the rigors of singing a broadway show every night.
