Why is it that every time a Republican screws up in some MAJOR way, a good many Dems start talking about how it is all just a ploy. A ploy to what? Destroy their party? If that's the case, let's hope they succeed??
It ranges from 'they orchestrated 9/11 to get us into Iraq' to 'they released The Innocence of Muslims to blow up the ME so that Obama would look bad' to 'Rove is behind Mittens being a really crappy campaigner so that he will distract us from his real target, the Senate'.
In the first case, if they were smart enough to get away with 9/11, why didn't they plant WMD in Iraq and manage to 'find' it on national television?
In the second case, if they were trying to make Obama look bad and Romney look good...well, that shit just didn't go the way they wanted, now did it?
In the third instance, I have to think that Karl Rove grasps the concept of 'down ticket'. Your party selecting somebody as appallingly bad at politics as Mitt Romney does NOT encourage people to vote for it. Especially when a good many voters are top down and pull the lever for the party of the guy they are electing as President.
I really do just think that the GOP leadership consists of a good many people who are not exactly the brightest bulbs in the box. Now, they may be as crooked as hell, but you can be stupid and crooked.

(16,685 posts)but the third of the electorate that actually believes exactly what Romney is saying will claw their way out of their graves to vote. Everyone else who thinks "this guy doesn't have a chance" and goes golfing instead of voting or doesn't bother to mail in their ballot because they think it doesn't matter could potentially hand these people a victory anyway.

30% of the electorate isn't going to even get Romney in the NEIGHBORHOOD of elected. ESPECIALLY when you take the electoral college into account.
