1. not sure where you get the idea that the wealthiest are "the most religious"

Paul Ryan said he worships Ayn Rand -- the militantly atheist poster child.

Bloomberg, Trump, George Soros, Meg Whitman, Steve Jobs -- none seem particularly devout to me.

The Pope is both rich and religious but that is the only one I can name.

14. the wealthy people I have have worked for are not remotely religious

basically like "Christmas Christians" (they go to church on Christmas, Easter, and for weddings only).

Feeling guilty or humble and giving to the poor isn't part of their lifestyle. Not real keen on the beatitudes. They believe they are better than everyone else because they have money, although never quite as much as they seem to want.

the higher up you get on the income/power ladder, the more you see people pushing religion.
there's a higher concentration of sociopaths who don't give a damn about religion but see it as useful in cynically furthering their aims.

I mean, all those meetings with the trust fund lawyers...all the time spent on corporate junkets...sitting at that desk looking at all sorts of papers...they worked their asses off! Those chumps in the coals mines and on the assembly lines don't understand how much work it is to be rich.

They treat religion as a useful tool to control the masses. For the poor, religion provides some comfort and sense of belonging in an otherwise pretty hard and unkind life.

Conservatives are fond of the idea of role models.

But many wealthy people these days worship money more than anything else.

The poor have nothing much else to cling to for hope. That may be part of the deal with insulting Mohammed and the riots in the ME.

your brain tries to find patterns even when there is no patterns in order to find meaning.... aka the poor

The other study was on rationalization on immoral acts.
