Wow! White people still think like this!

Caller into Stephanie Miller talked about when she went to the store, black people had their shopping carts piled with food and the parking lot was full of Escalades. Then she complained about her son being out of work trying to scrape by on unemployment and $13 a week for food stamps. Evidently, those blacks were getting more welfare and food stamps than her son with their food piled shopping carts and Escalades according to her.

Stephanie suggested she move to Montana or Wyoming. I hate to tell that bigoted white mama but I have lived in both states. They are very white. It's seldom you see a person of color there. When I went to the store, about every other woman I saw in line had food stamps because the poverty in those states that are very rural is very real. These are very poor white people who benefit from federal programs to help them out.

Really? The welfare queen meme cuts both ways.

Have good paying jobs, they'd feel bad about their crummy ones. I've found people with good educations and jobs don't concern themselves with who else is getting along well. Their confidence is not based on their race or gender, but their own skills and experience. People who are not doing well tend to look to someone else higher or lower in their minds to find a spot. The sooner poor whites find common cause with other poor people no matter who it is, the sooner they can unite for a solution together or improve their lot with education or connections. Focusing on the race and sex of others to find a stepping stone is for people that are stuck on the bottom and are not going to change their lives.

Easy to kick someone that one considers beneath themselves. If that is the kind of mean-spirited, petty person one is.

To be a liberal is to be confident that there is enough for all to survive and all should be treated equally to increase the wealth. Those who decide they have a one place or one chance to make it, hold on whatever it is under it becomes their master.

If humanity has, as liberals believe infinite in possibilities, there is no use holding on to one dead thing or position, it's a drag on the present and the future. Most of the people I know that act like baggers have a sense of avarice which can never be satisifed, and they find the rich to their example of success.

They have already lost the battle. It takes courage to stand up to robber barons. Despite all the howling baggers do about taxes, they would not dare go up against their boss. That's what a union does, gets in the middle of real surivival.

One can often escape taxes, if one has to do so. The roof over your head and the food on your table is a harder negotiation. I defer to the writings of Chomsky or Parenti on who holds the most power in our lives. It's not the evil government people like to bash, it has limits.

I tried to enlighten some of these hate radio repeaters on another website. It just so happens in many cases that people on food stamps are given rides by their neighbors in cars so it proves nothing. Another thing is that people will sometimes buy the best car they can that are only able to rent a modest house or apartment. Since the car is attainable, and a home mortgage is not. The caller was either repeating the voices in her head that day, or has a stunning lack of real world situations and has combined that with an innate sense of pettiness and venality. A closed mind cannot fathom the infinite variety of lifestyles that strangers have. And resents it all.

Focus on that one item they think is out of place, and magnifiy it a thousand-fold to fit their filter. Or she was just bullshitting, which is exactly what Rush, Beck and Boortz do on a daily basis.

It sounds so sweet to their listeners sense of faux victimization. I could probably walk the batshit lady in my neighborhood, which is happy and prosperous, very diverse and where those 'furriners' and POC are living well.

In fact, they are living far too well to be on welfare, period. They get up every day, go to work, church on the weekends and are tight with their money. They are no different in their lifestyles than the most dedicated example of baggers. The minority race welfare queen is a Nixon-era myth the GOP won't let go of, despite the fact that most reciepents are white.

When a person has defined their last vestige of dignity or self-esteem from their race or sex, etc., they are scraping the bottom of the barrel as it has nothing to do with character, accomplishments or anything higher than flesh. It's a low bar.

It's my personal opinion that they are terrified (of their own circumstances, that the world has changed before their very eyes, etc.), and Fox/Rush, etc. feed their fear and give them a target. Their fear manifests as anger.

Anger obliterates rationality. Fox/Rush feed them what they want to hear/see that supports their worldview.

It's all the fault of The Other. Pretty much anyone who isn't white and Christian is The Other for many of the people I know.
