(856 posts)The courts wouldn't get involved. Plus, Vets wouldn't have standing, they aren't the injured party. Courts love standing to avoid issues.

(5,857 posts)cannot tell the executive how to conduct foreign policy and/or military operations. That's for the President, Senate, and Congress to act on (or not).
The fact that we have a terrible Senate doesn't mean the judiciary takes over.
Personally I think we need to change our constitution to get away from a unitary executive aka king, but I'm not sure the best way to do it. Courts have repeatedly held -- from the 1860's Johnson impeachment / court hearing all the way through the consumer finance bureau this term -- that every executive branch employee operates at the pleasure of the president.
