Physicians from the TMA COVID-19 Task Force and the TMA Committee on Infectious Disease ranked activities on a scale of one to 10, with one being least likely to lead to a coronavirus infection to 10 being a high risk for infection.

(5,328 posts)They explain in detail how to read the chart but say virtually nothing about how they produced it. It sounds like they sat around a table and asked the group "on a scale of one to ten..." for each of these activities, then recorded the consensus. This doesn't appear to be based upon any scientific data or evidence whatsoever.
And yet they label the chart with "BE INFORMED" and "Know Your Risk..."
Such arrogance!

(14,861 posts)the place is being sanitized regularly, everyone is wearing a mask, spacing is enforced, everyone has been questioned about Covid symptoms, and their temperatures have been taken. At least, that's how it's being done where I live.

(28,343 posts)have to tackle anyone, shout in their face, or drip sweat, snot and blood on any of my fellow passengers on a plane. I also don't intend to spend 3 hours with them or take a shower with them.
Not sure what kind of flights the authors of this chart are taking.

You can't stop me. I'm a contrarian.
(I actually did eat at a buffet on Sunday, because I was hungry and nothing else struck my fancy. It wasn't crowded, and the staff was doing the serving, instead of the customers spooning the food onto their plates. But running with scissors? I'm not crazy, you know. )

(3,042 posts)I actually did run with scissors a few weeks ago. One of my kids was in the middle of a project and I was trying to make lunch and work out a small disagreement between my other 2. My oldest yelled she couldnt find her scissors so I ran a pair to her. I should just turn in my parenting card now.

(15,284 posts)I realize we've only got rough ideas of these numbers anyway, but it seems that this has got to be a roughly logarithmic scale, because there's no way that opening your mail 9 times is anywhere near the risk of going to a bar once.
