A Seattle judge threw out a lawsuit by a little-known watchdog group targeting Fox News for its coverage of the coronavirus pandemic on Wednesday.

The lawsuit, filed by the Washington League for Increased Transparency and Ethics (WASHLITE) on April 2 in King County Superior Court, argued that the network had disseminated false information about COVID-19, a charge the network vehemently pushed back on.

Superior Court Judge Brian McDonald called the lawsuit "laudable" but ultimately moved to toss it out, stating that "if there is a bedrock principle underlying the First Amendment, it is that the government may not prohibit the expression of an idea simply because society finds the idea itself offensive or disagreeable.”

You are free to lie in the United States of America. It would take a Constitutional amendment to change that.

they should lose their viewers and revenue stream but who will hold them to account? The (a)judge should shut them down because they are a public danger. Government officials need to be accurate and quickly correct any misstatements. When presidents say anything that comes into their heads with regard to truth, the effects can be huge.
We have a giant problem.

In our capitalist system, if there’s demand, someone is going to meet it ... Fox, hate radio, etc.

Again, only a Constitutional amendment could alter this dynamic.

That’s the biggest outlet of misinformation there is. Trump and bush-43 would never have been elected had it not been for fox.

The right wasn’t nearly as frothing at the mouth crazy when the fairness doctrine existed.

It’d be hard for arguments on topics like the anti-vaccine movement and global warming not being caused by humans to have any teeth when they are followed by the brief fact that there is no scientific proof proving them.

In general, I happen to believe the stances I take on issues hold more merit than the other side when they are both covered side by side and fairly. We need to have more faith that the path we follow is the best path for the country.

I really don't think anti-vaxxers need to get air time.

But since the Rump administration they don't feel it necessary to report accuracy nor report truthfully all sides.

The Fox News audience doesn't want accuracy, they want the shows to denigrate Democrats and to promote and praise Trump. So, that's what Fox News gives them.
