As COVID Surges Again, Experts Forecast Hundreds Of Thousands More US Deaths

The United States could see hundreds of thousands more deaths this year than earlier anticipated, as COVID-19 cases surge across several states.

Epidemiologists and demographers painted a dark picture in conversations with TPM, estimating that total U.S. COVID-19 deaths this calendar year could range from 260,000 to 500,000.

Those projections of the total U.S. death toll in 2020 come as questions about the disease’s fatality rate persist, with new outbreaks in southern states leading to large numbers of people infected and hospitalized daily, but with the number of recorded deaths — a lagging indicator — remaining relatively low, and on the decrease in some areas.

Andrew Noymer, a demographer and associate professor of public health at the University of California, Irvine, is predicting a COVID-related death toll on the high end of the range, but he emphasized the number of variables that could affect the final numbers. - TPM

But trump refused to do anything knowing what was coming , and caused this to happen like it has. My fear is he did it on purpose. HE is doing things to intentionally hurt us . While trying to claim he's been a huge success with this virus response, killing 100's of thousands of American people . He did nothing after knowing putin had put bounties on American service people, and now putting children at huge risks by forcing them and teachers prematurely back to school. People are now running from trump and the GOP as fast as they can, and will cause them too see a landslide against them this Nov. . If the Supreme Court protects trumps corruption by not allowing his taxes to be gone over , we'll see more criminals running for office because of their ruling , and give trump free reign to do as he pleases without consequences . If he has to turn them over I think we'll see he and putin , and putins cronies have been conspiring, and engaged in organized crimes, if trump hasn't doctored them up for a cover up.

The Repubs would have fought her every move to the last barricade.
They are such contrarians that they would have done the opposite of anything she tried.
They hate her that much that they'd cut their own noses off to spite their faces.

If only Hillary were president right now.....wait....the Rethugs would have been screaming bloody murder about every sensible thing she tried to do and we'd be in much the same place right now. She certainly could have led a better federal response regarding PPE and travel restrictions, but any calls for social distancing and mask wearing would have been resisted just as much or more because Hillary! Soshalizm! Freedum!
