Don't forget that Williams was Dick Cheney's press secretary, and that he is a donor to the Federalist Society.
I didn't see his coverage, but Neal Katyal is pushing back VERY HARD.

(15,135 posts)And I was asking myself "Is he talking about the same SCOTUS ruling?"
He was trying to paint it as a win for Trump.
I forgot about where he came from.

(7,947 posts)'this is a win for Trump!"
Mostly they seem to think that the tax returns being hidden from public for awhile is a big win.
NOT HIDDEN from the Grand Jury doesn't seem like a win to me, as they can INDICT Trump.

(16,407 posts)Or if hes not doing that hes downplaying obvious bad news for trump as not relevant, overblown etc. He started losing the plot during the Russia investigation and hasnt found it again.

(17,988 posts)But Pete always seems to go out of his way to read the whole ruling.
He was the only one to read the second page on the ACA ruling. All the rest came out shouting they overturned the ACA. They didnt. It was on the second page.

(6,960 posts)I grew up in Wyoming and worked with Pete at the local TV station and we were also friends.
Pete is a very nice guy, but a prima donna and is certainly an elitist.
It drives me around the bend that way most of the anchors on MSNBC defer to him like he's an oracle -- he's not.
Yes, never forget the Cheney relationship with Williams.

(34,661 posts)Pete Williams. Met this POS on a Pickett line years ago at Hormel in Austin Minnesota. Little prick loved to issue threats against our Teamster Crew. Of course, this was the event were Cheney issued his famous statement,"better watch your back son".

(22,913 posts)I didn't know he worked for Cheney, but that helps explain it. I've seen him use Republican talking points on more than one occasion, but one time recently really stood out for me. I saw him, with a straight face, claim that his sources indicated that the removal of Acting U.S. Attorney Berman from New York's Southern District was really only done because President Trump wanted to honor a request from SEC Commissioner Jay Clayton to allow him to remain in government by assuming that position upon his planned return to New York. No, Williams did not report this as the White House talking point, he presented it as the final conclusion unearthed by his "reporting". It was jaw dropping. The lead in to William's commentary centered on how controversial Berman's removal was, and all the concerns being raised by many over the politicization of the Justice Department. And then Williams blandly "reported" that it was all smoke and no fire.
