The Supreme Court ruling is long but clear.
In our judicial system, the public has a right to every mans evidence. Since the earliest days of the Republic, every man has included the President of the United States...
Given these safeguards and the Courts precedents, we cannot conclude that absolute immunity is necessary or appropriate under Article II or the Supremacy Clause. Our dissenting colleagues agree.
The SCOTUS condemnation of both Barr AND tRump is a 9-0 UNANIMOUS decision.
I agree with the majority that the President does not have absolute immunity from the issuance of a grand jury subpoena.
Barr should immediately resign.

(52,273 posts)i don't really think even barr thought the argument itself would succeed. donnie probably did, but of course he's a idiot.
they really just wanted to keep things tied up in legal process until after the election.
Use the courts to delay Justice. Trump's MO his entire life.

(1,648 posts)Obviously the U.S. Supreme Court naively doesn't understand the Codes and the Law with what the Founding Fathers put in the Constitution granting the President supreme authority on all matters. If they had dedicated their lives to U.S. Law like me and my children, then they would understand the President only needs the Attorney General to sign off on whatever he does and does not do...
Or some other blathering pile of stinking excrement like that.

(2,315 posts)This ruling gives both New York and the House to continue their investigations. This ruling isn't a narrow path. The door has been left wide open.
Billy Barr based all of his meddling upon the "Absolute Immunity" meme which he passed along to the Dumpster. Their major false talking point is now gone.
Clarence Thomas was the tell and his words are worth repeating again and again:
I agree with the majority that the President does not have absolute immunity from the issuance of a grand jury subpoena.
Barr isn't just wrong. He is so wrong that the SOCUTS slammed the door in his face.

I'd pay big bucks to watch this on T.V.!

(14,565 posts)Don't attack Trump alone. Demonstrate the caliber of people he appoints. Most Americans have no clue who William Barr is, let alone the atrocity that he is attorney general.
Use his image and his words first, then the Supreme Court version. If there's a clip of Barr asserting absolute immunity, then lead with it and finish with it.
Can be a devastating ad if done correctly.
