It doesn't say--Biden For President. It says--Biden, President. Like he already has the job.

AND another thing--he doesn't try to cover his baldness with an orange coon-skin cap.

I often saw Joe Biden on the train when I traveled the NE Amtrak Corridor. I remember the smile. He was often talking and listening fellow riders. Sometimes he would just sit silently looking out the window in thought.

As most of us know, for many years Joe Biden has been a strong advocate for rail service in this country, and for expanding it. It's never gotten any traction. But, in another possible silver lining during this horrid pandemic and political climate, Joe Biden once again perhaps becomes the candidate needed for the moment.

A President Biden (knock on wood) will quite possibly make his passion for trains a central part of his economic recovery and climate change agendas. After all, none of us wants to get on an airplane for the foreseeable future. Building a new nationwide network of advanced, sometimes high-speed, trains could open the possibility for a massive FDR-type public jobs program to help working people and the economy. It could also have a positive effect on carbon emissions. It also has a potential social impact: I'd jump on a well-ventilated, efficient (and socially distanced) train to go somewhere 3 or 4 or 6 hours away. This would alleviate congestion in airports and on planes, as well as on the highway.

Joe Biden and families is the theme of this magnificent ad (my husband teared up); but it could also be Joe Biden and trains.

...impact of modern trains. Perhaps you could educate me a littke?

My dad worked for the New York Central RR, and then the Penn Central RR (after the merger). When my sister's and I were kids my family road the train to California (transfer in Chicago). It was a wonderful and educational trip.

Train virtually always comes out better than plane, often by a lot. A journey from London to Madrid would emit 43kg (95lb) of CO2 per passenger by train, but 118kg by plane (or 265kg if the non-CO2 emissions are included), according to EcoPassenger.

However, the margin between train and plane emissions varies, depending on several factors, including the type of train. For electric trains, the way the electricity they use is generated is used to calculate carbon emissions.
Diesel trains' carbon emissions can be twice those of electric ones. Figures from the UK Rail Safety and Standards board show some diesel locomotives emit more than 90g of C02 per passenger per kilometre, compared with about 45g for an electric Intercity 225, for example.

The source of the electricity can make a big difference if you compare a country such as France, where about 75% of electricity comes from nuclear power, with Poland, where about 80% of grid power is generated from coal.

When it comes to travel, trains are among the most efficient and lowest-emitting modes of transport, according to a report by the International Energy Agency (IEA). In particular, urban and high-speed rail hold “major promise to unlock substantial benefits,” said the report, including reducing greenhouse gas emissions, congestion and air pollution.

...had some facts. You were kind enough to not tell me to google-off! 😊

Trains seem like a very good alternative. I feel quite sure that President Biden, with his history and his commitment to climate change, will be taking a hard look at supporting and advancing rail projects.

I’ve traveled in Europe a bit, and their train systems are light years ahead of ours. Even the oldest trains in Italy are better than most of our Amtrak trains. The French TGV is excellent. Earlier this week, a writer for the NYT published an opinion piece suggesting that we stop building roads. They just encourage more cars. We should get rid of cars in major cities like New York. It makes lots of sense, especially when you compare the open spaces of many European cities where pedestrians can enjoy lots of space. Modern trams or subways help people get around. Much better for the climate.

The soft, easy going pace and assuring tone are effective.

Think of the contrast of that to what all of our people are going through right now. The calm, reassuring flavor of the ad and lack of loud music, percussive sounds and shocking imagery is brilliant.

Then, compare that to the tone and nature of the Lincoln Project, et al, ads. They effectively equate Trump with shock, trauma and other negative truths about him.

I just mentioned that because, due to the tendency to think in black and white, contrast can be a very useful and powerful tool in this battle we have on our hands.

Dear Fellow American:

We here at the Trump 2020 headquarters are excited about our chances in having the Great One, Donald J. Trump, as our President for the next four (or more) years. But to ensure a resounding victory in November, we are testing campaign slogans that will resonate every REAL American, libtards and antifa terrorists excluded. Please rank the following from 1 (Awesome) to 4 (Still Awesome, but not quite as Awesome as 1).

A. Trump 2020: You Gotta Die of Something, Right?
B. Mein Drumpf
C. Trump: Better Than Caligula!
D. Other (Please use the space below to give us your best slogan)
