Are we breaking out the party hats & writing GOP eulogies a tad early?

I could have sworn next month starts with an "O" not an "N".

No doubt, the Romney tape will embolden both parties, but with 50 days left, there is still time for events to change the game. The tape at worse case for us cost Romney a badly need week, but something will move it off the screens soon enough. In reality, Romney finally said what his hard line supporters wanted to hear and what he really felt - that will have an impact on both sides. It may however not net one vote and hearing Romney say what we knew he felt may only have potential impact to a small slice of the vote not already firmly dug in no matter what.

Would we be best to assume nothing changed and work on turnout of the base which this election may hinge on for us?

2. We should not celebrate. But we shouldn't ignore reality, either.

Palin in 2008? Romney in 2012? It's clear that the GOP is falling apart. We need to drive more stakes through its heart!

But it would be unhuman not to enjoy this ass making himself loathed by everyone.

I am completely confident he will soon be loathed by millionaires. He's working down a list.

5. Yes. I'm afraid too many will become complacent and not turn out to vote.

One way or the other, those tapes and all of his bumbling around like an ass is GOOD for us. Even if they do not turn off a single Romney voter (and I know for a fact they have), his comments have gotten the Dems fired up.

It turns out that Romney is a good candidate for us. And I don't mean that sarcastically. Without even trying, he is polarizing. Just Mitt being Mitt is enough to drive a Dem to vote.

This certainly won't help Mitt Romney.

We're all adults. We KNOW when the election is. Nonstop worry is great and all, but we CAN feel good about our position in the race AND still work until election day.

Sometimes a little confidence is a good thing!

If the election hinged on just those here, hand me a hat and a drink. I feel good, but then I look at how close this can be and worry.

But if we think the GOP is more powerful than they truly are, we give them power over us. That's why I think it's important to see things for how they really are. Romney has lost this election. We need to keep pushing to make that a reality but it's also time to put more attention on Congressional races.

12. Romney has not lost yet - I have watched a win fade away in the later hours before

I am not afraid of the GOP and I do see things as they are. They are that he has a ton of money left to assault the uninformed voter and the polls can be tricky. I think it best to assume nothing and figure that every single vote will count. It has before.

and they might be trolls, so there is a lot of work to do. Between the massive voter suppression attempts, and people who don't think it's important to vote, I won't be comfortable until 12am Nov 7 when Pres. Obama is declared the winner.

1. 50 days in an election cycle is a long, long time.

2. Most voters have very short memories.

3. Media reports news. This story will very soon cease to be news, if it hasn't already. And media will report on the next big political story. I agree, there will be one. My guess is before the end of the week.

4. Gallup's tracking poll, the one DU cheered as accurate just days ago when it showed Obama up by 7, has shown Obama in a slow decline ever since. Today that poll shows Obama up by just 1.

5. We still have three debates to go.

Reality is reality. Self-delusion can be self-defeating. The time to celebrate a victory is after that victory is achieved.

Personally, I think threads/posts that tout the demise of the GOP & a win in November are irresponsible. We are up against Citizen's United money, electronic voting machines, disenfranchised voters, a compromised media, an ignorant voting population & an even bigger apathetic non-voting population.

One & two really scare me.

The Twilight of the Gods.

But we all acknowledge that we must continue to push our case, as we will, until November. But, damn! It is really, really nice to have so much assistance from the opposition. I think that they really cannot help themselves.

For decades I always knew that their own words could be used against them. It seems that this is finally happening.

Our job is to not let them off the hook. The only way this happens is to work our fucking tails off until November 6, and beyond.
