Was the (resolved) Chicago teachers' strike all about Rahm?

Up front, I haven't followed much of it save for the national news snips. So I don't know the local details. But what I've seen reported from both sides is all about teachers v Rahm. Was this Chicago politics played large? Or a basic contractual dispute?

Strikes are typically focused on specifics. The press has slid by some of the specifics to focus on the drama.

Rahm was controlling everything from behind the scenes and his plans involved gutting an already gutted school system. So yes the teachers where striking because of Rahm.
