I don't blame them for showing up when a press conference is called, but when it becomes apparent that they have been brought there under false pretenses for an unrelated topic, how is it ethically justifiable to continue carrying the event live?
they always seem to give the all-too-convenient reasoning that whatever the president says is newsworthy and should be disseminated to the public... and that's not incorrect, but there is no reason a campaign speech needs to be covered live and indeed they have a responsibility to make sure the public is getting an equal dose of both candidates and no one is entitled to extra free coverage by literally lying to get it.
note that........... they did the SAME THING to Hillary in 2016 and also the GOP primary candidates....... every time drumpf spoke there was a lot of anger in the crowd so they all covered HIM live because who knew if a FIGHT was going to break out!!!

(65,238 posts)CNN cut away in a few minutes. MSNBC didn't show it.
WGN didn't cover it at all.
And, CNN was the network that covered an empty podium while HRC was finishing up her jobs speech.
And, now they're pulling the plug.
They finally realized they're covering a one trick pony, an imbecile, and a bad person.

(16,646 posts)Once it clearly became a campaign speech, they cut away until he started actually answering questions. But I hate to say this, but truth be known they probably believe that him yammering on to the press doesn't bring in ratings.
