Why do conservatives act so shocked at Romney's secret comments?

Do they not all believe that taxes are too high? Do they not all believe that too many people are on government assistance? Do they not all believe that they are the producers and everyone else is a "moocher"?

Do they not know that the Republican Party has always been against Social Security and Medicare, even though all of them take advantage of both government programs?

Why are they so shocked that the Republican Party is ready to throw everyone overboard that does not support the wealthy class with more tax cuts? Do they not know that the actual true constituency for the Republican Party is the top 1%-2% of the population? Do they not know that the rest are suckers for a political philosophy that does not exist in reality?

Not only are they not shocked, they view this as Romney's Sister Souljah moment (the moment in which Romney's conservative ticket is punched). He is got his base with him the rest of the way.

3. That's a weird analogy - although I can see them using it.

the Sister Souljah incident was when Clinton definitively said that he wasn't dependent on his base, but was willing to piss them off. In this case, Romney's Sister Souljah moment confirms that he is his bases candidate, saying what they believe in private.

But perhaps, the way they look at it, both Clintons and Romneys Sister Souljah moment showed they are with the American people i.e. Tea Party conservatives.

that Romney was just saying what they all think. They also know that the lid has been blown off their slimy little secret and it may cause them big problems.

The followers and believers in the Republicans now must accept that they have been scammed. They must decide whether they will continue their support or reject them.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

4. They know, but they can't let on that they know.

The Republican party operates by putting on a false face regarding their real goals. They push plans that would destroy things like Medicare and SS while claiming that they're trying to save them.

This video rips that mask off and shows their true beliefs and agenda. So now they have to distance the party and conservatism from those things and act shocked that Romney believes those things.

Doing so hurts Romney's chances for the Presidency, but I guess they figure that's a lost cause and that they have to at least save the party's false face.

that the Republican Party has no intention of passing anything that would benefit the average American citizen. That type of voter may still support Republicans based on other issues, but there is no way they can vote for Republicans based on financial social justice policies.

The "never admit you're wrong" attitude is going to destroy them.
