That said, my preference would be that Biden wins the presidency, & Dems have control of both House & Senate. It will take the trifecta to undo the damage this horrible administration has inflicted on the country.

Every time I hear one of those polls that says Biden is way ahead, let's say, 51% to 40%, my reaction is never, wow, that's great, Biden is pulling away! My reaction is always, WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG with that 40%?!?! What does it say about this country that so many people are THAT BATSHIT CRAZY?

They use voter suppression to accomplish this.

They are the greatest threat this country has ever faced.

People vote based on ideology. That's why I use that category to wager and really don't care about anything else. The percentages don't shift much at all. Every cycle roughly 10-11% of liberals vote for the Republican, and roughly 15-16% of conservatives vote for the Democrat.

The only two statewide wagers I have ever lost in presidential years were Indiana and North Carolina in 2008. I wagered on McCain to win both states based on ideology varying from the polling and the odds. I really thought there was very little chance Obama would carry those states. But he did so very narrowly, partially because 20% of conservatives voted for Obama that year.

Notice that Indiana and North Carolina both reverted to their past tendencies. The ideology was more significant than the 2008 result. I will always say that Obama winning North Carolina in 2008 was one of the worst things that ever happened to Hillary 2016. Complete waste of time and resources.

In 2020 I do not believe 20% of conservatives will vote for Biden. He is not nearly as dynamic as Obama. The country is more polarized than 2008. No matter what the polling indicates now, I think it will be the typical range of 15-16%.

Maybe we can get below 10% for a change in terms of liberals who vote GOP. But I doubt it. By far the best way to approach this stuff is to ignore the noise and the hype and simply assign the typical number.

If Biden wins big it will be due to swing moderates. They do exist. They dictate outcomes.
