I am 51 and not a spring chicken..but in my lifetime I've seen US life sink from Earth Day, moon missions and a strong support for public sector and unions to a borderline fascist dual force of Dow Jones and military rising to ascendancy.

the coarse, dumb, and jingoistic America of Trump shatters my soul.

When we had the draft and thousands where sent to Vietnam to die or get fucked up, when Jim Crow ruled the South, before the enactment of the Clean Air and Water Acts and so on

For hetrosexual white males of means, it can be argued that life was pretty good back then. For everyone else, it was rather sucky.
