Yesterday I posted this NY Times piece about a Harvard professor who's found a piece of papyrus mentioning Jesus' wife. Today it is gone from my page. It's also gone from three friend's pages who posted the same thing. I tried to repost it again this morning, got this blocking message from fb:

I guess the freaking fundies got their panties in a twist when their pitiful, limited world view was challenged. Please feel free to let facebook know how you feel about it - I sure did!
Naturally, I reposted the story linking it to the Washington Post's coverage of it.

(17,651 posts)That's what happened to me. I posted the link and a few preview paragraphs, had comments and a like it and the entire thing was gone today.
I wouldn't have noticed until someone else posted that this had happened to many other FB users.

(28,473 posts)and also my friends' pages. My guess is overnight some kind of automated spam blocker kicked in on fb after hoards of offended fundies reported it as inappropriate. Then fb's day shift workers started getting complaints about it not being spam and they removed the block from the link.

(15,212 posts)At first I ran into the same problem you did, but I cleaned up the extra stuff at the end of the URL that I'd used (all of the stuff that comes after the "?" in the URL, which are HTTP GET values) and Facebook accepted that, and even gave me a better choice for the thumbnail image than when I used the first URL.
