Shell Builds On-Site Coronavirus Testing Lab At Beaver Co. Cracker Plant (PA)

Shell maintains the workers did not contract coronavirus on site but rather brought it in from the surrounding community. In all, Shell says 18 employees have tested positive for coronavirus.

The oil giant says it can safely expand its workforce with strict adherence to safety protocols of sanitary conditions, masks and social distancing.

It’s also touting a new advancement in virus detection. In the past week, it has added on-site testing capabilities to detect coronavirus before it spreads.

...never shut down, took measures to minimize group contact, and are showing few issues.
From what I'm told, they did things like:
1. Altering shift start times +/- 30 minutes, in 10 minute bites. IOW, some folks on 7am shift come in at 630, then 640, and so on. Their relief at 7pm do the same thing. The locker room is then only handling 1/7th of the people at a time.
2. Eliminating lunch room use, or spreading the lunch periods so people are there 1/4th at a time
3. Providing tents to use for lunch for people in operating areas so unmasked eaters aren't around coworkers.
4. Masks at all times, including N95 filtered respirators for those working in close quarters, like maintenance mechanics.
So, with nearly a dozen such facilities around here, employing around 8,000 people, they're managing it pretty well.
It can be done.
