(I consider Pew one of the very best pollsters):
At this stage in the campaign, Barack Obama is in a strong position compared with past victorious presidential candidates. With an eight-point lead over Mitt Romney among likely voters, Obama holds a bigger September lead than the last three candidates who went on to win in November, including Obama four years ago. In elections since 1988, only Bill Clinton, in 1992 and 1996, entered the fall with a larger advantage.
The latest national survey by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press, conducted September 12-16, 2012 among 3,019 adults including 2,424 registered voters, finds that Obama continues to be the more likable candidate by a substantial margin; his favorability rating has risen to 55% from 50% in late July, with 42% now expressing an unfavorable view of him.
Romneys favorability also has risen, from 37% in July to 45% currently. But more (50%) continue to view Romney unfavorably. No previous presidential candidate has been viewed more unfavorably than favorably at this point in a presidential campaign in Pew Research or Gallup September surveys going back to 1988.

(1,185 posts)because many of the Red State voters will actually pity him and his wife for the Liberal Left Wing attacks. They don't note the contents of the video, because most are Dittoheads and mainline Fox Noise. They are so conjoined in their dependency state of mind and fortune, that any demeaning of their heroes is highly personal and offensive, not thought-provoking or game-changing.
That's not the case with DU or most Democrats, who are capable of and/or doomed to critical thinking, and therein lies the gap of credulity.
But the personal attacks, other than the actual facts, may provide blowback. Right now, bad as I hate to admit it, the Democrats are wise to let the Republicans create the proverbial firing squad.
We can, however, stand back and pray that it works.

(25,415 posts)Obama is ahead in almost every poll because the public agrees more with him on all the issues then Romney. It is only close among likely voters because Repubs and conservative leaning independents are more motivated to come out to vote because of their hatred of President Obama. If this kicks more likely Democratic voters in high gear then Romney is really done in for. I doubt it effects his base voters but it sure can effect ours. There is not many people left undecided about this election so it all comes down to turnout.
