Luckily so far a mild case, on day 10 of low grade fever/muscle fatigue/chest tightness. No cough but really makes you feel lousy and weird. Heres the kicker, a neg test result and have 2 drs confirm its covid, just from symptoms and knowing the false neg rate is 30%! Also what sucks is the wait time for the result, CO is generally 10 days. I got a lab which was 5 days but again, the accuracy can be iffy. There is NO ability to contract trace properly. Ive alerted everyone I know as soon as symptoms started. Drs also say that there is no flu Around or any other illness that resembles this.
Curious about other folks here and their experience?

(1,154 posts)I caught it last January, a fairly mild two weeks worth, sleepless nights dry coughing and a good deal of neck pain for some reason. But the tail end of it has been bad, lung and kidneys ache pretty much all the time. God knows what the outcome will be, but at sixty nine years old I'm not overly optimistic.

(16,174 posts)I'm gonna be under 70 in a few weeks. This February I had a sickness like I've never had before. No nausea, but dry cough, no energy at all, sore throat and low grade fever. I took 7 days of bed rest since I work for myself and am semi retired. It was the first time ever that I called clients and told them I would not come into their homes due to the way I felt.
4 months later, still no fever to speak of, but a shortness of breath that I never had before. I mean a move around 5 minutes and sit down shortness of breath. this is something I've not had ever.
I meet with my gp on monday the 27th. I'll get a deeper knowledge then.

(12,393 posts)It doesnt appear inflamed but it just wont go away, and my voice is hoarse. My temp would never raise a red flag because its 98.0... but normally its almost always 97.1. Ive been taking it daily since March, so I know.
Its just one of those annoying things that you wonder if its the start of something or just your imagination. I bet theres a lot of that going around.

(1,154 posts)The first symptom I had back in January was a sore throat. It's like it was in my head, then migrated down to my lungs, and that "migration" I have to tell you was the strangest sensation I've ever felt in there. I don't know why, old man that I am, it didn't kill me. The kidney/lung situation worries me, but what can you do?

I have:
COPD - tight chest, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, headache, mental fog. Side effect of the meds - muscle spasms.
Seasonal allergies - headache, running or congested nose, sore throat, loss of smell and therefore taste
IBS - digestive distress
Summer in OK - heat rash
Botched foot surgery - poor circulation in 3 toes on L foot.
Put them all together and the only symptom I don't have is a fever. That's the litmus test for now.
I won't be going for a test. I don't want a person administering my test in the same attire they have worn for the last 100 people in line.
No point in a hospital even IF I have it. I'm the type of person they send home to die.
If it comes to the point where I need assistance to breathe, it's time to check out. I knew this long before the virus. I told hubby if I pass out and he calls an ambulance, and I die alone, tied to a bed in the basement of a hospital, I will haunt him for the rest of his life.

(1,353 posts)So sorry for all your ailments...
I dont usually run fevers and mine is normally 97.5 so I knew something was off. This is all the administrations fault, the worst way to handle a pandemic and all the health people I spoke to all feel the same frustration and are doing their best. I just hope I come out of this without long term issues. 61 and active...I think I got it being around tennis players from league tennis. Not knowing most of the women or where theyve been, and no masks and hard to distance in a doubles match at times. But I guess it could have been anywhere, but only time without masks...

(1,351 posts)This is the weirdest virus. A co-worker in his 30s got it and had to go the the hospital overnight for breathing issues, this was on day 5 or 6. He has high blood pressure so could be part of the reason his case was more severe. Hes totally fine now (he said initial symptoms were worst chills ever and horrible headache).
Then I have an 80-year old friend who has like 8 stents in his heart and an ex-smoker who got it and did fine. Had what felt like a mild flu.
My 23 year old niece and her boyfriend got it about 2 weeks ago (positive test). My niece had a high fever (103) for 3 days and then poof! All symptoms gone.
My 21 year old son is still waiting for his test results. Its been 7 days now. He has extremely mild symptoms of: dry cough but only at night, slight headache that comes and goes, occasional wheezing (they gave him an inhaler but he hasnt has to use it yet), and slightly elevated temp for the last 7 days (99 to 99.2. He is always 97.2 or 97.3). No muscle aches for him.
It is soooooooooo frustrating waiting to get test results!

(22,007 posts)He recovered completely and his wife never got it surprisingly.
I may have had a variation that is GI symptoms only. Started in late February and was acute (lots of diarrhea and loose stools and lost weight) until middle of March, then got very gradually better over next 2 months. No fever at all. Never had GI problems that lasted that long before in my life. I even got tested for colon cancer but nega tive result. I even thought it may have been IBS but now I don't think so.
Have been very healthy GI wise last 2 months (which I was also before all this began in February).

(43,185 posts)Thankfully, he seems to be asymptomatic 10 days in from his exposure. I haven't personally been near him during that time, but my wife has, so we're a bit on edge at the moment.
Been checking my temperature regularly, which seems to be normal. No coughing.
My wife plans to get tested early next week. I am contemplating getting tested as well.
Needless to say, it's rather stressful and sucks. But for the grace of God go we...

(2,769 posts)I refused to believe it until it occurred to me that several weeks prior, I had been in several busy airports and on several crowded planes.
I had chills, fever, incredible weakness, dizziness, loss of taste, very low BP, and a vicious cough.
It lasted two solid weeks and took me a couple of weeks more to start to feel normal.
That early March time frame meant that almost no testing was being done. The doctor I saw just gave me antibiotics and an Albuterol inhaler.

(1,850 posts)My 64 yr old cousin and his 66 yr old wife both had it, him first. They recovered but feel some loss of energy. This was late May, early June. They live in Philadelphia.
My 70+ yr old neighbor was very sick, negative for flu, had to go to a pulmonologist, has has low energy and difficulty getting normal breathing back.
She caught it from her son's family. He, his wife and 2 son's 13+15 we're sick, end of February. One son tested negative for flu. Dad was tested, as he works for va. He tested positive for covid, but the other 4 family members were never tested.
They're all recovered, but my neighbor is still feeling low energy, even after 3+ months.
I suspect my friend's 9 yr old son had it in April, and suspect my friend had it too. Mild symptoms, cough, fever, several weeks.
I just read an interesting article that identifies 6 types of reactions to Covid infection.
http://www.cbsnews.com/?ftag=MSF0951a18
The six clusters of symptoms outlined in the study are:
1) Flu-like with no fever: Headache, loss of smell, muscle pains, cough, sore throat, chest pain, no fever.
2) Flu-like with fever: Headache, loss of smell, cough, sore throat, hoarseness, fever, loss of appetite.
3) Gastrointestinal: Headache, loss of smell, loss of appetite, diarrhea, sore throat, chest pain, no cough.
4) Severe level one, fatigue: Headache, loss of smell, cough, fever, hoarseness, chest pain, fatigue.
5) Severe level two, confusion: Headache, loss of smell, loss of appetite, cough, fever, hoarseness, sore throat, chest pain, fatigue, confusion, muscle pain.
6) Severe level three, abdominal and respiratory: Headache, loss of smell, loss of appetite, cough, fever, hoarseness, sore throat, chest pain, fatigue, confusion, muscle pain, shortness of breath, diarrhea, abdominal pain.

(11,428 posts)day two of no fever, aches, or chest tightness and feeling good. It almost felt like a dose of the seasonal 3-day flu. Although, I did have about 3-4 days of no energy before the fever showed up. 2-acetaminophen every 6-hrs for the fever worked well.
I'm Colorado also.

(5,164 posts)I have not been reading here much for quite a while.
I was very sick with double viral pneumonia, monitored mostly at home. I went to the field hospital and then to er 4 weeks later with pe symptoms, I had sinus tachycardia and high bp both times at fh and er. Er gave me fluids and pk. I had trouble breathing and severe back pain non stop for 3 months or so. I spent most of the time on a heating pad, pk, lidocaine patches etc. I finally started pt for my back a few weeks ago and tg it has helped. I still have pain though and each time it gets worse I am terrified it will go back to 24/7. But so far it responds to pk, ice etc. and goes to a lower level.
Symptoms with pneumonia etc.- it felt like a tight rubber band around my chest and could not breath deeply, severe pain in right shoulder at first and then middle of back as well and floating. Coughing etc. it all started with bad runs and severe headache and low fever. I had those symptoms continue as well as body aches. My fever never went above 100.2. I still have a fever now at night 99-100. Normal is 97.6 usually.
Things I did which saved me: zithromax I had at home as soon as I suspected pneumonia, I thought it was bronchitis at first. I am on blood thinners for past dvt. High doses of vitamin c. Lysine and vit d. My doc rx more inhalers, I am asthmatic. I did breathing exercises and tried to walk but walking made me worse and the be hurt too much but they did help. My lungs are still not normal but better. I feel any dust or anything I breath in immediately.
My blood sugar was crashing very badly nearly the whole time, I was drinking several juice paks a day and eating 2 meals sometimes instead of one- type 1 D.
My first test at field hospital neg, was not done properly. Second test at er, neg, I think it was cleared by then. I had one antibody test at 3-4 months, neg. so I either did not develop antibodies or they are gone. I think I probably have t cell immunity, I hope so, because of what was going on with my blood sugar during the virus. I still wear a mask, gloves and goggles when at pt etc. change my clothes and shower when I come home.
I have now sprained my ankle badly and could not walk for a few days, i am walking now and still have pain but a brace is helping. I had a test for ebv virus- that was reactivated during covid. It was also reactivated during type 1 diagnosis. It could be why my fever continues. I read a study about covid patients who had acute ebv at the same time.
I hope you get better asap!

(1,353 posts)SO sorry for all youve gone through! I feel pretty lucky now...although I dont feel Im quite at the end?
Healing thoughts coming your way, what a nightmare! Meowmee, sounds like you may have some snuggly cats nearby? Hope they were a comfort during this horrible time...❤️
I would do whatever you can to stop inflammation like the vit c etc. I also read an article that melatonin may help stop the cytokine storm too.
It really was a nightmare. I am so relieved the pain seems to finally be a lot better now. My doc asked if I want to see an id, I am waiting on that with everything else going on with me and my family. Family members have been at er and now a friend had a stroke.
Yes I have 2 indoors and several outdoors who I care for. My 2 indoors were with me non stop during the pneumonia and they were a great comfort, now the little hooligans are staying up when I sleep and ignoring me until brunchtime😹 my ginger baby left me a vole gift on the kitchen floor and there was vomit too🙀 I think I have to get a new baby who will cuddle with me when I sleep. Not sure we can handle more though.
Wishing you a fast and full recovery asap and take good care of yourself

from a friend who had it, and gave it to his wife. Tired all the time, lost sense of taste and smell.
He got it from a ski trip in February - about 600 people went, most got sick, 4 died. I'm glad he survived, but it sounds like it lingers.

(6,148 posts)They are the National Brotherhood of Skiers. It's been around for decades. They go on trips together so that they don't have to be the only black people on the slope and so that they get treated with respect... and they definitely party hard in the evenings. (More dancing, less drinking.)
My guess is somewhere in Colorado, possibly Aspen.

(28,341 posts)then we had this absolutely LOVELY interlude where we had 0 cases in my county. 0 cases daily for more than 30 days. The whole state largely quieted down, we only had a total of 600-odd cases 3-4 weeks ago. Wide open spaces, low case counts, the state opened up, and of course, the amazing amazingness that is Montana - we became a very attractive destination. Then the tourists returned.
Today we had our all-time high # of new cases, nearly double our previous number of cases, literally overnight. Those totals do NOT include non-residents diagnosed here on their happy little vacations.
The ICU in my hospital is nearly maxed out, something they are not telling the community.
Here we go.
