anybody else get slammed with a ton of spam from Amazon today?

I must have gotten 70 or 80 emails from what looked like a lot of legit companies plus some random spam too but they all had account-update@amazon.com as the "from" address.

just started around 3 this morning.

I'm on hold with them now and have been for 20 minutes. My Amazon business account was hacked last March and as a result, I've had to abandon it. I still keep it for order history reference but can't use it to order anything. I log in every once in while to see what fresh hell is taking place and today there were 36 items in my cart totaling more than $1500...just lying there waiting for me to enter a credit card. This happens every week. The browsing history would curl your hair, believe me.

I opened a new Amazon account and was able to order once successfully and now cannot get into the account without uploading a copy of a bank or credit card statement verifying that this is my account. RUFKM? I'm not uploading jack to Amazon. So, now the friendly customer service rep has me on hold indefinitely.

Sounds like you're on the receiving end of a phishing attempt or something - those emails aren't from the real Amazon.

I get a fair amount of spam, but never all this with the same "from" address. it ALMOST looks like they highjacked my "normal" spam and added a prize and a link to it and sent from that address. lots of "your package delivery" or get a card for doing a survey...but sort of from Walmart or whatever but with that Amazon from addy.
