"SNIP......
Donald Trump says Joe Biden wants to abolish the suburbs. But polls show a different truth: The suburbs want to abolish Donald Trump, Politico reports.
If current numbers hold, the Republican Party will suffer its worst defeat in the suburbs in decades with implications reaching far beyond November.

(9,133 posts)When Individual One was a kid, some wealthy individuals lived in high rises, fancy apartments, and certain inner garden suburbs. The poor and minorities lived in the inner city.
Fast-forward past the turn of The Millenium.
Many inner-city neighborhoods are getting gentrified as Yuppies and others get tired of the long commutes and start buying and renovating inner-city property. The previous inhabitants, often working poor or working class, get displaced by higher rents or higher property values. So where do they go?
The suburbs. Then they have to commute.

(9,133 posts)At least not in Texas, Even as late as twenty years ago, suburbs were overwhelmingly white. Minorities were often subtly (or not so subtly) discouraged from moving out of the cities. (Admittedly this is still often the case for Afro-Americans).
But something funny happened since then. The white got dilutes. Asian Americans started buying suburban houses. So did South Asians. And so did many Latinos (In Texas, largely Mexican-Americans).
Texas suburbs arent so white anymore. Texas reactionaries fought that campaign ten years ago. They lost to market forces and to local voter ire.
Donnies dog whistle is becoming as dated as antique dog-whistles against the Irish and furrin Catholics.
