Turns out that getting to the abducting-political-opponents-in-vans stage is bad sign.

I wrote a book about concentration camps all over the world across the last century, and it turns out that getting to the abducting-political-opponents-in-vans stage is bad sign.

So if you get kidnapped by random people in unmarked vans nowadays, you're supposed to just submit, in case it's actually law enforcement officers doing the abducting?

It would be an interesting academic thought exercise to play out what happens if/when someone rightly fights back to the extrajudicial kidnapping and is armed to the teeth like a good second amendment fellating citizen republicans claim we should be.

does 'stand your ground' protect you if you fight back?

that video from NYC yesterday looked like teenage mall-cops wearing shorts, etc.

i noted the van's license plate was captured in the video - wonder if that has been traced back to the registered owner yet?

crickets

At a time when unidentified federal jackboots have been plucking people off the streets in Portland, or at any time really, choosing to arrest a woman at a protest by having a gaggle of male cops in plainclothes swarm her and pack her into an unmarked minivan is not the way.

Until the bike cops showed up, it really wasn't clear that it was police making an arrest, and until later reporting filled in some of the details, there was no way to know she had an outstanding warrant.

Bad form. Really, really bad.

If they did something wrong, then law enforcement needs to show up clearly identified as leo's, in identified vehicles, with an arrest warrant, present it, & take into custody. If the average citizen cannot differentiate between an "arrest" & a cartel kidnapping, it's a problem.

Yes, that. 👆
