... who have passionately maintained that Тяцмр cannot or will not try to postpone the election, here is your foreshadowing of that effort.

I agree that he can’t legally do it. And I mostly agree that he won’t be able to actually pull it off. And I’ll concede that there is a chance that he’s just gaslighting the issue to distract.

But he is most likely floating a trial balloon here, and anyone who thinks he and his cabal are not looking into this has not been paying attention to his political MO.

Things are going to get pretty interesting in the next 3 months.

There’s too much to reproduce here, but the president cannot postpone with an executive order and the conditions for imposing martial law (under which the election could still be held) are unlikely. That said, Trump will not pay attention to what is legal.

Here’s the link. https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/presidential-election-postponed/

The U.S. Constitution gives the power to regulate the “time, place and manner” of elections to the U.S. House and Senate, with Congress also empowered to alter the rules. Nowhere is the president granted such power.

In addition, the Constitution spells out a hard end to a president’s term on Jan. 20 in the year following a presidential election.

12. Can tRump explain the major differences between Vote By Mail
Thu Jul 30, 2020, 10:10 AM
Jul 2020

and Absentee Voting? I vote absentee and have since 2004. I requested an absentee ballot and have a standing order for that. I receive it in the mail quite a while before the actual Election Day. I fill it out, follow directions for closing the envelope, sign and date, add postage and drop in the mail to be postmarked by a Election Day. I can go online in a few days to see if the ballot has been delivered.

So how is voting by mail different? Don’t registered voters get the ballot in the mail? Don’t they fill it out at home? Don’t they follow instructions of how to return the ballot which one option is to mail it back, making sure it is postmarked by a Election Day?

So what is the difference that makes Vote by Mail such a problem? Other than making it easier and safer for voters to vote.

He is full of sh*t. 💩💩💩

a lot of people vote, he will be voted out. Naturally during a pandemic, a lot of people prefer to vote by mail as to not risk getting covid.

Since he gets so much wrong and also lies freely he should be challenged to give concrete examples of fraud and asked if he votes by mail. The media needs to also confront his party representatives with the same.
Get them all on record.

If there is no election by January 20th, Speaker Pelosi will be sworn in as President. This trump has NO power to circumvent Congress on this, without literally shredding the Constitution.

He's saying mail in voting will be fraudulent and that's why he is floating a delay.

He's insane and has zero chance of delaying the election, but he's not saying it's because of Covid-19 he wants the delay.

However I do understand that the Lincoln Project guys were making the point about school safety. Why is Chump willing to risk the safety of the school children, and the teachers? Chump suggests that we need to "delay" the election ... but go right ahead and open the schools.

"Delay the Election until people can properly, securely and safely vote???"

He may not specifically mention the pandemic but he is stoking Covid-19 fears in his rankest ranks.
The tweet is a call to arms to his "base" followers.

The Constitution exists only in the determined-acceptance of citizens to that ideal, not an ideal base upon which to bet paper can stop coup.
