"Weaponized stupidity" might the most accurate assessment

for what Trump has done to the Republican party and to millions of Americans.

The stupidity has always been there and will always be there, but it took a deranged lunatic with the charisma of a train wreck to weaponize it.

Because some of these people aren't stupid; they just pretend to be stupid or go out of their way to avoid learning anything about a subject for plausible deniability.

But "weaponized stupidity" is catchier, I'll agree with that.

Sadly a meme of only two words inevitably lacks nuance.

Your point is well taken and is useful for a percentage of these folks, but doesn't explain "naturally stupid" people like Louie Gohmert.

A further nuance: If they want to act stupid, they are stupid. What intelligent person would act stupid when the stakes are so high? (Well, I imagine a great many, but we're back into nuance and nuance don't surf)
