'She is absolutely our No. 1 draft pick': GOP pines for Rice as Biden VP

Politico

Joe Biden still may be undecided about who to pick for a running mate, but Donald Trump’s team knows exactly who they want: Susan Rice.

Trump’s aides and allies accuse Rice — without delving too deeply into the evidence — of helping cover up crimes for two of the president’s favorite foils, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, making her just the kind of deep-state villain who could fire up his MAGA base.

“She is absolutely our No. 1 draft pick,” a Trump campaign official said.

Rice, the former ambassador to the United Nations and national security adviser for Obama, is accused of revealing the identities of top Trump associates in 2016 after they were picked up as part of U.S. surveillance of foreign officials.

Why would he select Rice anyway? I like her a lot but not as VP in this election

But it has nothing to do with these Greed Over People spin-clowns.

I tend to resist any candidate for high executive office who has never before run successfully for any office. Campaigning, like administering, is a skill, and a major campaign is not the place to pick it up.

But what this 'Trump campaign official' says they would benefit is no more in tune with the people and the moment than anything else. It will not divert from the great pile of corpses, and knowledge of who is responsible for them, and the attendant suffering. Attempts to divert from this, rather than engage with it, will only anger the public further.

A good quick read of what is important to folks right now is a survey which showed four in five parents were considering home-schooling their children rather than sending them to classrooms. One in four were resolved and already preparing to do so.

the distraction and magnet for GOP'ers. The same reasons GOP wanted bernie to win is valid with a rice VP

... they will have an easier time making up stories about Rice. I know Trumpeters like her as VP. However, they should be careful... because she represents the normalcy and competence associated with Obama and Hillary. The voters willing to switch like that... they want that... 2nd however, Biden already has that, in himself. He probably should just go with whichever he feels best with, since Repubs will attack any of them. If he wants someone difficult to attack, Duckworth is best, obviously. With any of his picks, we win!

7. Rice is probably the very worst choice for VP for the reasons stated above.

I know some here at DU love her; however we do not need the Benghazi distraction that comes with her. Sure, pretty much all of the VP candidates have some sort of baggage; but there is no baggage worse than Benghazi baggage. There is zero need for Biden to step on this rake.

Scared of what the Trumpkins will think of Susan Rice? Susan Rice is ready to be President at any time, and is the most trustworthy of all to carry on with what we as Democrats selected Biden for.

13. Aren't you familiar with how the GOP creates a media circus to blunt Dem momentum?

Rice gives them the perfect ammunition to do that, just like they did with the Tea Party after Obama was elected. They may not political power in DC come January; but they are far too skilled at convincing the media to air their bullshit grievances. Those grievances are designed to keep Democrats on the defensive to stall or stop the implementation of Democratic policy goals. It's a tried and true pattern with them. We should not aid them in that. Enacting our policy goals and reversing the disastrous past four years is out absolute #1 priority after Biden is sworn in. We do not need to be rehashing Benghazi for the millionth time if Rice is VP. DUers need to stop thinking the GOP is going to leave that apple on the tree and simply let us lead come January.
