Yahoo Comments Section

I use Yahoo for email, so I sometimes look at the Yahoo homepage as well. They are apparently assessing whether or not they should continue having comments following their "articles." Most are click-bait. When I read the comments, though, the amount of RW-Nut comments are appalling. Almost everything becomes a political argument and progressives appear to be vastly outnumbered on there. I don't even bother engaging anyone on there.

A couple themes I've noticed include rampant racism. Every time an article mentions any criminal activity by a black person, the usual crowd chimes in with something about "15-80" or something (I forget the exact number)---that black people make up 15% of the population but commit 80% of the crime or some such crap. Yet they ignore the crime family in the White House that are fucking over each and every one of us (except the oligarchs, I guess). Another thing I've noticed is that whenever a woman is arrested for sex with a minor, that seems to be just great to the usual crowd of commentators. Maybe all this is why they shut it down. Today I looked and there was a survey to take about our thoughts on the comments section. So I said they'd be better off without them b/c people are horrible on there. I am better off not having the ability to give in and look in there. I usually leave with higher blood pressure and greater disappointment in American society.

The way I see it, it's one less place for Russians to post creepy bullshit--so good riddance (hopefully).

I'm glad they're taking a look at it. When you see an anti-trump or pro-Biden article suddenly have russian biased comments flooding the comment boards with thousands of "likes" instantly appear, you can be pretty sure it is the Russian troll farm working overtime. They will flood the board for days in order to drown out any opinion other than the one they want to push.

I think it is important to flat out see how much hatred there is. I think it help you to understand that some people are truly dumb, mean, and almost evil in there thought process.

Yes it can lead/open up to foreign bots, but again the same persons who believe them are the ones who want to as it agrees with there mindset.

I will grant that it may give unsophisticated persons idea's, and or bad world views, but again if that is what they are predisposed too, does it make a difference?
