(68,620 posts)But in 12 I needed the money! I did data entry as well as help set up campaign events. In fact, I have told this story. I bought my daughter who had an anxiety disorder to an event in Youngstown where Pres. Obama was supposed to speak but Sandy made it so president Clinton and Vice President Biden spoke instead. Both were great. Clinton was the 'explainer' in chief as he called himself...Obama being too modest to name his many accomplishments. People don't realize the first polls in 12 were not good. It was touch and go for a while.
My daughter had been doing better and wanted to go but she had a melt down just before it began and she was about to be escorted out by Secret Service when Biden intervened and moved her to an area that wasn't crowded...VIP area. Asked her about her college and just spoke to her pleasantly...she said it really impacted her life that he had a stutter and overcame it...kind of gave her hope. In the end she did overcome the anxiety that had plagued her for years. She loves Biden and supported him the entire primary. Biden is a wonderful human being so glad he will be president! I believe we are looking at a very important presidency...akin to Roosevelt in 1932.

Lovely to read this story this morning.

(28,829 posts)Made eye contact I know. Loved him then.
Knew two years ago he would run, that I would vote for him and that he would win.
Thats why the faux gaffes, and the hugs, never swayed me. Nor the young voter thing. He had lots of younger people and a delay, some even fainted to hear him.
I know I love Obama. I dont know if Joe can be a better president. But just as good will be just as good.

Was in the front row, and I couldn't believe that Clinton kept looking RIGHT at me as he spoke!
I'd love to meet Biden, he's just a great down to earth guy.
(PS - way back when he was first President, I was at Saratoga where a woman was announced as awarding the winning trophy for the stakes race. The woman? Virginia Kelley, she was a huge racing fan)

(68,620 posts)the other side but couldn't...Biden knows better. We must end the filibuster and go for policy which will be very popular...look at the ACA we created a demand for healthcare. Now folks view it as a right. Obama was a great president and saved this country but now we have a chance to really get some policy done like Roosevelt did.

(487 posts)Presidents aren't allowed to drive cars in public roads. Watched comedians in cars getting coffee with Seinfeld and President Obama and the secret service has strict rules with that!

(307 posts)Well done. It shows that Joe is a red-blooded American car guy.
Can Trump even drive a car? I've never heard of him ever driving -- except maybe a golf cart.

And he's right about electric cars, too. Look at what Polis is trying to do in Colorado.

(14,585 posts)As to Trump, though, I'm thinking his is more related to constant rage and too much fast food.

(3,256 posts)I was a member of SCCA for a whole lot of years when I was young. Have worked on a whole lot of race cars from Sprites to open wheeled Lolas. The corner workers called Corvettes "plastic pigs" because they were so heavy and hard to push. The Corvettes of that era were built on a ladder frame which didn't have much torsional stiffness. Even with a full welded in cage the frame twist was so bad that I remember that the inside front wheel stayed in the air on turns so long it was called in over the radio for locking brakes. It's still a cool ad.

(54,417 posts)A lot of them must be paid trolls, because they show up making the same comment on every article run by the Washington Post. If this is dementia, then Trump's brain activity, by comparison, is so low, you wouldn't even notice if they pulled the plug on his life-support.

(6,598 posts)They do incredible work. Depending on where I'm working I sometimes drive by on the way to/from work & always slow down to look into the garage, & if they have a vehicle sitting outside I've stopped & taken pics.
