Its never done this before, but it wont let me sign in on my desktop.
The splash page doesnt even have instructions for Chrome.
Anyone else have this problem?

(43,214 posts)There was a sudden power surge that knocked my computer off.
When I signed back on, Chrome had turned off cookies apparently.
I was able to find out how to turn them back on (no thanks to DU), but I don't know why it switched off in the first place.
Whatever. Problem solved, I think.

(146,336 posts)I know some people have cookies turned off in their browser for what they consider to be security reasons. I don't go to untrustworthy sites, and cookies help by remembering things between visits and letting the site keep track of how you use the site and what you have seen. For example, DU uses it to keep track of your posts in My Posts, and to mark things you've already read in thread lists. Without having cookies on, it's like you were never on a site before.
If, for some reason, I need go to a site I consider suspicious, I go there in Chrome's incognito mode and cookies aren't stored.

(43,214 posts)Its obsolescence was actually a virtue for me.
It was the only browser that displayed Twitter in its classic format, which was far, far superior a layout to its current New Twitter screen vomit nonsense.
Only when Twitter stopped supporting IE was I convinced to make the shift to a new browser. I used Firefox for a bit, but I found Chrome more user friendly.
