Dear Soothsayer,

I am glad that we had the opportunity to share the COVID poster with you. In life we must know our strengths and weaknesses, and I know that I am not an artist. I have no such talent. But sometimes it’s the thought that matters and that is the case with the poster.

The school of early 1900s poster art has always interested me and the poster is a graphic representation of our journey. The visualization of climbing a mountain was a device that I used to keep myself motivated. Every day we had to take another step up the mountain. Exhausted, frustrated but determined, we carried on. On the climb up we didn't even know how high the mountain was. All we could do was keep going. At the same time the mountain itself was being sculpted by the actions that we were taking. "Flattening the curve" would determine the height of the mountain and begin the descent.

While I would never want to do it again, the experience taught me much. I learned to never underestimate the essential goodness, strength and generosity of our people. I truly believe there is nothing we can't do when we are committed and united.

This difficult chapter in our life is not yet over and I am sure there will be more challenges ahead, but our progress is undeniable. Thank you for all you do. Let's stay smart and safe.
