I wonder what happened to change his mind?

(11,607 posts)So I think it's fair to read "won't be supporting" to mean that he wouldn't be supporting them in the primary, not the general election. It does seem like a bit of a turn regarding his attitude toward Kamala, but a lot has come out about her since that 2018 tweet that might have changed his mind. For example, yesterday Rachel Maddow interviewed a public defender who worked opposite Kamala when she was a DA who said Kamala was actually one of the most fair, progressive prosecutors she dealt with.

Evolving only seems to be genuine and trustworthy when it's certain far left politicians and thought leaders.

(8,207 posts)I don't know much about him, but I'd applaud this statement from anybody--and doubly so from anyone using a big platform to try and sway other Bernie supporters. I mean, why come down on someone for reversing course to support our Democratic ticket?

on anything as BULLSHIT.
I just find it interesting that he's bashed others for "pandering" by either apologizing or saying they regretted something they said or did. And why do you think he went from saying what they did was morally unacceptable to being "Proud" of her?

Those for whom "evolving" on an issue is a perjorative.

(29,322 posts)Kamala Harris doesn't have a great record as California AG but as Senator she has a very liberal or progressive record. In fact she was more progressive than Bernie Sanders some years according to Govtrack ideology scores.
I liked Kamala Harris more than most candidates in the field but my choice was Sanders. Harris selection does make me more excited about Biden's ticket primarily because of her Senate record.

(32,640 posts)However as of this week, her popularity among POC especially women, became very, very apparent.
I think Sean saw the writing on the wall, and his position as a social media influencer among those - especially those who graduated from HCBUs - was in danger if he kept accusing her of murder like he had all during the primary.
"Didn't plan on endorsing" is a nice way of describing calling them - especially Kamala - every name in the book, especially concerning her AG record, which was very progressive.
Do you think that he would have had the same pragmatic support of the ticket to oppose Trump if this person had been chosen as the VP?

(8,207 posts)And he knows that if progressives unite behind Biden/Kamala, we have a far better shot at beating him.
My son-in-law is so unhappy with our ticket and so hopeless about politics in general that he says he might never vote again, and I would be overjoyed if he posted something on social media like what Shaun King posted instead of posting about how he is tired of voting for the lesser of two evils. People like my SIL need people like Shaun King to lead him to voting for our nominee.
We need to come together now. Our most far left needs to come towards our nominee even if they're disappointed, and our most centrist need to welcome them and not belittle them when they do.

(32,640 posts)when evidence will not?
I remember the people who turned the long knives on Elizabeth Warren when she endorsed HRC.
Did you see the attacks on even Bernie on social media when he said people should support Biden?
Shaun King makes a living off of being a Social Media influencer. Your son-in-law, I imagine does not.
I think Shaun King realized the effect that continuing to attack a fellow HBCU alumni when they became a historic candidate would have on the numbers of his social media followers, once he saw just how popular Harris is, especially with women of color.
I imagine that his change of heart would get him more interviews, and continuing calling her and Biden "murderers" would get him fewer.
Do you think that Shaun would have had the same "change of heart" to defeat Trump if this person, who is vilified among his followers, was to have been chosen as the VP?

(34,183 posts)I recall many people who had hate in their hearts toward Kamala after she beat up on Joe in a debate. Lots of talk of burned bridges and no coming back.
Now, lots of love.

Certainly Shaun has held "hate in his heart" for others who say they changed their minds.
He certainly didn't have a change of heart from "primary to general" concerning other Democratic nominees that he's vilified.

(3,635 posts)I've seen numerous people on social media who were previously against the KH pick (some strongly so) react emotionally to actually seeing the first WoC on a national ticket, and now supporting it.
Of course King may have other motivations, but if it helps mend rifts in the party and get us more votes - this is what we need.
