(2,143 posts)All this talk of "nasty" sent me running to youtube to re-enjoy Ashley Judd's "I Am a Nasty Woman" speech at the Women's March on Washington. It holds up well after all these years.

(6,215 posts)We are all in the middle of a pandemic.
Most of America's workers are either not working or working from home.
Most families are having a hard time paying their bills and the GOP refuses to extend the benefits to help.
As a life long voting Democrat who has donated to campaigns in small amounts for years my name is on dozens of mailing lists.
DU is a lifeline to the news. But the complete story is often cut off because the link to the complete story ends up at a PAYWALL.
We are now retired in our seventies and on a fixed income. Yet we still try to donate when and where we can. BIDEN/HARRIS 2020 got our entire budget for AUG/SEPT yesterday.
Our email and snail mailboxes are filled every day with a request for $$$$$$$$$$$.
HOW CAN WE ACTIVELY AND COMPLETELY PARTICIPATE WHEN THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS TIME AFTER TIME EACH DAY
To "Facts and Reality" news sources how about a moratorium until NOV 15th 2020 PLEASE lift your firewalls. It's your Democracy too.

(6,938 posts)But putting in a paywall will lose you readers.
Then you need to raise your rates.
Then you lose more readers.
Then you have to raise rates again
Then ...
How long can you keep this up?
Come on , news sources, invest in educating the electorate just a little. Moving the needle that direction will end up with more educated readers getting better jobs and being better able to afford yur subscription rates. No, it wan;t happen overnight. But doesn't it beat the alternative?
